my main problem is time is rather limited for golf atm. im in australia, its winter and basically i can get an hour before work 640- 740 am, and 515-545pm when it gets dark, and only 3 days per week (work out of town for 2).

last night it dawned on me my practice was doing nothing. i went out after work and only got 2 holes in, but i was hitting 3 or 4 down the hole. i got in the car and thought what a waste of time, i barely warmed up or stretched and felt like id done nothing.

usually for morning sessions i have a quick stretch and warm up, then hit pw-8 for a few balls and move through 6,4,hybrid, 3wood driver. i start off having a target (align feet with a club) but usually by the time i get to the driver im sort of rushing and not taking to much notice of where the ball ends up.

ive basically decided that after work sessions will be short game only. my pitching (0-80) is terrible and i havent got any drills for this so far.

as you can see im a bit all over the place, but my handicap is staying consistent. please guys give me some ideas, suggestions, tips for all parts of my game relating to practice.

EDIT: my main aims & goals
- hitting more fairways with driver/3 wood
- improve pitching/ chipping & up n downs

Where do you practice? At a range or course, or both? For short game I like to go to the practice green and just try to get up and down as much as I can from certain spots. Instead of hitting 15 chips in a row, I'll play 3 balls and try to get all 3 up and down on one turn before I move to a new spot.

Why do you feel it's a waste of time when you can play 3-4 balls down each hole at a course? That's my favorite way to practice. Drop a bunch of balls at 80 yds if that's your problem distance for example.

Maybe the problem is that you are only practicing, and don't have any rounds or matches to prepare for. I know during the winter I got really bored beating balls... I have more focus in my practice now because I have a couple matches each week to get ready for.

Sorry, I probably didn't help much, but I felt bad no one replied.

Sounds like you have a good idea of the weak spots in your game, and it may just be a matter of making practice enjoyable for yourself.

i appreciate the reply man. i think youre right in that im not enjoying the practice after work as it just feels i dont achieve anything. im a very technical person with all the sports i play so i like to know im getting something for my effort. also im pissed that i dont much time after work to play but hey thats what winter is i guess. ive been thinking of a few games to play to improve my training. they are goal driven. i also do play in the tournaments on wkends.
