I appreciate the advice and I have gotten a lot more than expected here which is really good.

Taking a step back I've started to reflect on the sort of clubs I am in need of. The idea of buying an expensive set of AP2s or MP68s before demoing them would really defeat the purpose.

The other problem I have is that I might be hard to fit. My current form is not my best and it's not my best because I haven't played much these last couple of years.

Other factors which count against me is my shoddy approach to equipment- I use lakeballs for one thing. The only solution will be to set about doing things properly for a while and then reflect on whether I am as good as I think.

The way i see it I probably can't put forward a very good case at the minute for said clubs especially the MP68s and that probably wont make the fitters job any easier.

But at least I now know what deals there are on Ebay and there are savings of £100+ to be made which I regard as well worth it.

Good point and kudos for realising that new clubs doesn't always make you a better player!

My advice would be to try everything you're interested in, test them out and get fitted for (you should be able to do this without obligation), so you know your specs. This way, once you're ready to start shopping on ebay you know exactly what you need.

ebay is great if you follow a few simple rules.

Good advice... and I would add one thing to that... Be aware of the shipping charges! Some s/h charges take the product to a point where it is higher than you could go to the local retail outlet and purchase the same and drive home with it. I've had very good luck on ebay so far with buying and selling.

Yea, I took the shipping charges as a given, as I always roll them into any bid I'm making so a $35 bid with $15 shipping is actually a $50 bid in my mind.

Of course when I tell my wife how much I paid I always leave the shipping off. "See honey, I only paid $35 for this club. What a deal."

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
