I recently got fitted for a set of irons after playing 20 yrs with a standard set.
I am 6' 4" with good swing speed.
Was outfitted with Ping i15 irons 4 -UW (and I LOVE THEM - they are lasers to the green)
The Ping i15 Irons have 2" extensions and X Stiff shafts - and Ping's largest grips.+

My dilemma - bought a couple of Cleveland CG14 wedges (54 and 58) cause I liked them better than the Ping and Vokey wedges - and the price was right ($80 per). They come with "wedge flex" shafts

Do I:
1. Just get the 2" extensions + the oversized grips?
2. Replace SHAFT + extensions + grips?

I reallly don't/won't swing these wedges with full swing...just not necessary....but I love everything about the Pings...including the X Stiff shafts...am worried that these cg14 wedges will feel like a 1960's Hogan club compared to my Ping Irons

Any advice from the forum would be welcome

Thanks!

Any

i am 6'4" also. my clubs are an inch over standard, ex: 5i= 39". i opted to not lengthen my wedges, but that's also because i felt i lost a touch of control with my longer clubs at first. my advice would be to keep the wedges at standard, or bring them up an inch at most to save some flex in the shaft. also, consider adjusting your lie angles.

It would be most cost effective to install the extensions and grips first. If you like them, great, if not, reshaft. You should be able to re-use the grips if you blow them on and off.

You are echoing what my pro buddy stated....bend the lie (to make it more upright) on the wedges and extend it....he said to go the full 2" and choke down (like I now do with my Pings)
Thanks

no problem, just spreading out the knowledge i pick up in golf school. play well!

    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.
    • Day 4: 3/26/25 Par4Success workout followed by putting through 50 mm gates.
    • Day 249: did a stack putting session and then worked on 5 foot putts for a bit.
    • Day 17 (26 Mar 25) -  Big day working on a project at church - therefore it was grab some time with the 9i in the backyard working on pitch and runs later in the day.  Focused on keeping the ball flighted to get some good rollout.  Hit about 20 shots doing that and then moved to the 54 to keep working on getting good torso rotation and not flipping through it.  Was not perfect as there were some bloopers and fliers but overall a good session on distance control.
