Finally bit the bullet and got a shaft puller...

I've been reshafting clubs for awhile, but even using a heat gun I end up mangling the tips on shafts because i didn't have a puller. I used a modified crowbar to pull the heads, but it wasn't enough leverage to pop the heads loose without adding a ton of heat.

Finally bought a Roberts hydraulic puller from Ebay, total price with shipping was $95. The other night I did three pulls, and re-installs in 45min, the difference is amazing. Also, the clamp is SO much easier to use for regrips and whatnot then the plastic vice insert I was using, and much safer for the shaft. If you guys have used those plastic club clamps you know what I mean, you have to pop them on/off the shaft and then insert it into your home vise.

The shafts I killed before were all POS stock shafts I didn't care about but I've started pulling some decent (Aldila NV, Prolaunch Blue) shafts that I didn't want to hurt so it was time to step up.

Anyway, if anyone is in the market, I think the Roberts is a very good unit for the price. Only issue is that the crowsfoot will scratch the paint on the shaft just above the hosel...I have to remember to put some tape on that area before pulling shafts from now on.

I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while. I love to tinker to this would be fun. How were the instructions? Did they detail just extractions?

I really didn't look at the instructions, it's pretty self explanatory once you see the puller.
