Well, I figured I should post in here just because, even though I've made a few other posts and one topic already. ;) I'm a new golfer who recently got the interest to pull out his old clubs and take a few swings again. I played only for a brief time in high school when I was trying to join -some- athletic team. I caddied for a short time before HS, and even though I didn't stick too long with that, I still wanted to try to play.

Don't even think you can get on even a semi-competitive team with little to no experience in the sport you're playing, especially something as specialized as golf. I learned that lesson with a couple bad experiences in the first few weeks of practicing with the golf team as a freshman. I basically decided it wasn't for me, and was going to remove myself from the team at the same moment the coach was going to cut me. At least we had some agreement there LOL... but since then, I hadn't swung at all.

Now, a bit older and wiser, I'm just trying to learn once again. My first experience with golf since way back when was Memorial Day, when I went to probably one of the worst not-quite-goat-track par 3's in the Milw. Co. Parks system to have a little fun. Granted it wasn't anything special, but I managed to put together 7 bogeys (5 on back 9 as I was figuring things out gradually), 10 doubles, and only one triple, even if I did hit an 84 for the par 54 course. Here's to hoping I can learn things without a whole lot of cash to do it with (i.e. lessons). ;)
