The so-called science underlying these bracelets is nonsense and cannot be read with any credibility.

You will no doubt get a series of posts from people saying that these bracelets have cured their aches and pains, baldness and erectile dysfunction, but any treatment which relies on testimony from individuals (aka anecdote) is snake oil.

Sorry

Gotta agree here. The only evidence that supports the claims is that there is a placebo effect for some players.... same as a sugar pill. If you believe strongly enough, you can convince yourself that it works. Testing has shown that most of the claims are a scientific impossibility.

James. I run clinical trials of new medicines, so I do know about the placebo effect. I thought I would go with the simpler "its all bollox" approach.

First, thank you for your service.

Unfortunately, the benefits of these things are largely in your mind. However, if you believe they will work for you, there's still the chance that they might at least reduce perceived pain - which is, I believe, what you're looking for. I wouldn't expect the "honeymoon" period with the bracelet to last too long.

Equally effective: go to a sporting goods store and get an Adidas (or whatever brand you like; I see your TaylorMade avatar, so I'm inferring you like them) wristband. Tell yourself that this reduces arthritis by (fill in explanation here). You never know. There's a regular in my club who claims that keeping a Masters divot tool in his pocket helps him hit straighter drives.
