I was just at Dick's Sporting goods at lunch and they had about 6 Ping Rapture Drivers in a bag mark down to $149.00. Also on golfsmith right now they are selling for the same price. Is there a reason that a once $400 club is now selling for so cheap.
I'm considering going back for one, I need to update my driver, but I was just a bit concerned about the dramatic price decrease.

Anyone have any input?

Thanks

they're very forgiving drivers.

I've only hit them once or twice. Goes pretty long. Not a crazy noise off it like my cobra either.

Its still a decent club. Right?

It's a great club.

Try it out, you won't be disappointed. What's wrong with your cobra driver? what model is it?

I'd be interested in what you have to say about the driver if you go hit it. I've also noticed them falling in price.

I currently play a Ping Rapture. It is the 1st generation and the Rapture V2 is the "newer" model. There is a TON of technology in the original rapture driver and the clubhead is FANTASTIC. The old marketing material mentioned that it was designed with the assistance of a Cray computer. I'm wasn't crazy about the stock 909 shaft and I swapped it out for an NVS but I absolutely LOVE the club. It's traditionally shaped but it's absurdly forgiving yet workable. I've looked at all of this years drivers but I won't switch because I'm so happy with the Rapture. I liked the driver so much I bought the 3wd as well.

If you just do a search on Ping Rapture you find a bunch of reviews. Not that it means a lot but if I remember correctly Angel Cabrerra used it when he won his masters.

Driver: VRS 9.5 degrees

Fairway Wood: 13 degrees
Hybrid: A3 19 degrees

Irons: i20's  Yellow dot

Wedges: Vokey's 52, 56 & 60

Putter: 2 ball

Ball: Penta; ProV
