Ok, so I've been working on the Stack and Tilt swing method for about 3 weeks now (and really noticed improvement in my distance and scoring). However, I feel that my ball position is really off; especially with my driver (but partially for my 3W and 3I).

When I get up to the ball, I widen my stance like it says in the book, but if I don't place the ball about 2-3 golf ball widths in front of my left foot (righty golfer); I have a straight-push or a push-fade/slice. I *think* (and that's probably my problem) that my club isn't getting around my body enough or something which is causing the face to be open; while if I have the ball way out front it's a nice straight drive; but from time to time it seems to be too high with too much spin on it.

Should my ball be that far in front of my left foot? If not, how would I get rid of the push (without draw) that plagues me?

Two to three ball widths IN FRONT of your left foot? I think you misread it... Ball position is never outside of your feet. Put the ball two to three balls INSIDE of your left foot.

I was going to post a similar question. The problem for me is my driver miss is a low snap hook that starts just left of center. From what I can understand from the book, I'm not getting my hips forward quick enough which would shallow out my angle of attack. That's of course based off of my assumption that I'm coming into the ball too steep with a closed and delofted face.

The same here My best attempt at self-diagnosis is that while I am making a conscious effort to keep my lead arm straight on the back swing and coming back down through contact, I am not straightening my trailing arm which means that both arms are bent on the follow through and this helps close the clubface. Couple this with my apparent inability to hold my hips in a forward position and this all, I think, contributes towards me not getting the golden push-draw, more of a slight fade which I can live with until I get better.

    • I have had the flu recently which gave me plenty of time to pore over Joseph Mayo’s instagram. I have hit a ton of shots each day on carpet and a little started how easy this shot is to make. Key thought for me is bring the club “no closer to the earth.” That really resonated with me. If I really steepen the attack angle I can hit my 58* lob wedge barely an inch or two off the ground and a repeatable distance. I don’t recommend this but tried it to what the end ranges are for angle of descent. I actually think a 62*-64* wedge might be even better for this shot.
