Some of my irons are in need of regripping so I figured I would get a general consensus as to what you guys like/use for iron grips and why so I can decide what to go with.

Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord .580. First is feel. The grips are your only connection with the golf club and, ultimately, the golf ball. I want to be able to feel the ball. With these grips, you feel everything. With a lot of the soft grips the feel is muted and bland. That's no good. Second, the performance when the grip is wet is unparalleled. My hands have a tendency to sweat and I strongly prefer not to wear a glove (again, that feel thing). With the full cord, moisture isn't much of a problem.

I tried the Lampkin 3gen grips this year and I love them. Nice, soft and pretty cheap at less than $5 bucks a grip.

There's a thread with a poll on this subject.

I like a da Winn Excel medium grips...love the tacky and rubbery feel. They wear out a little quicker depending on frequency of play. I've been using the Winns grips on my clubs for over 12 years.

I love the look of them. Im currently using Black Widow White Silk grips on my driver and woods so they will match perfectly. What do you like about them that you said there are none better, im just curious?

I've got tour velvet grips on my irons right now.

I prefer cord grips though, they last much longer than a regular grip.

Ok now I need a question answered. I have been taking a look at what you guys suggested and I keep seeing different sizes like regular, mid sized and over sized. How do I know what is best for me and what exactly is the difference?

You may want to read this

link and this . I have medium hands, wearing medium cadet glove - the medium grips feel just right to me.

Is it best practice to have your irons and wedges with the same grip?

For me, this is a matter of personal preference. I like to keep my grips consistent so I stay with one type/brand for all the clubs in my bag, except for my putter.

Ditto. I have the same grip on all of my clubs from the driver through the wedges. In a way, I have the same grip on my putter (Scotty, Golf Pride, corded grip). I have been experimenting with a Golf Pride New Decade Multi-Compound on one of my drivers though. I like it so far but can't see changing out all of my clubs for the Multi-Compound. It's nice in the driver though.

1. super tacki (hense the name)

2. after every 5 rounds i wash them, and they get their brand new tackiness back 3. they are cheap at only $3.79/grip 4. easy to obtain from golfsmith 5. they can be replaced every 20 rounds (becasue they are cheap...i like fresh grips) 6. they get sticker the wetter they get (good for sweaty hands/rain) 7. the standard size it similar to Golf Pride, and w 2 wraps of tape is just a hair smaller than a midsize i could go on and on........

Golf Pride Players Softie cord. I like the way they feel in various weather, they wear well, they look sort of traditional, and they're long so I can grip way down.

I love Golf Pride Tour Velvets. I also love the New Decade Multi Compounds. I used to be a winn i-ron guy, but they were way to wimpy (as in wearing out). I still however, have a AVS midsize pistol on my putter. The rest is either GP TV's, or NDMC.

I'm a huge fan of the golf pride multi compound grips. I use the standard size and double tape them. I use these grips because I tend to get sweaty hands during the rounds and the whether here in Oregon isn't exactly the driest either. There are several outstanding grips out there, but these are the ones I will be using for another 5 years.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
