Cracking where the clubhead meets the shaft

Hi I have Graphite shafts on my irons. You know where the clubhead meets the shaft theres that plastic circle thing(looks like an O-Ring). On a few of my clubs 10iron/8iron that ring is breaking popping loose on the 10iron it has completely broken off pretty much.

Is this bad/dangerous? Do I need to fix it? Will it mean I need new shafts? Sigh I dont know much sorry for being a dummy.

The ferrule? I think some callaway irons use plastic rings instead of traditional cone shape plastic pieces as ferrules. If it is the ferrule, its not a problem. They're just decoration.

Thanks yes its a plastic circle ring. Good to know its just for decoration I was worried the clubhead might come flying off or something.

As I said I know sh*t about golf equipment thanks for the tip.

Man, i think we need to sticky a thread with the definition and purpose of a ferrule... this seems to happen every week.
