I have a set of the 07 Hogan Apex Plus irons that I bought brand new from GolfSmith a few years back. I was considering having the clubs reshafted, but I can't figure out what the tip size is. I contacted Ben Hogan (well, actually Callaway) directly, and they told me that all Hogans were .355 (taper tips). However, I took them into my local golf shop and they measured them and said that they were .370s. Does anybody have any idea what they really are or how I can find out for sure without pulling a head off.

I have a good deal on a set of Project X shafts, but they are .370s and I don't want to pull the trigger on them until I know for sure that they will fit.

Thanks...

I checked on the Internet, most Hogans irons are .355 Taper tip.
Whats in my Golf Bag:
Driver: Nike Sumo 5000
5 Wood: Mizuno MP-001
Iron: Mizuno MX-950 5-PW
Wedge: Cobra FP 60 degrePutter: Odyssey 2-BallBall: Yellow balls

That's the problem, I find that MOST are .355... and that's what Callaway says, but then I have my local club builder measuring them and saying they're .370, and so I'm not sure that he knows what he's talking about. Also, if I remember correctly, the guy at Callaway was saying that they didn't make Apex Plus irons in 2007, even though the website shows that they did and I still have my build card; so I'm not sure if he was looking at the sizes for an older model or something.

Thanks for the help guys... Talked to a different club maker right now and he said that it is most definitely .355... The problem was that they measured it above the ferrule, which shows .370, but he said that the shaft goes down about an inch into the hosel and in there it gets down to .355

    • Day 44 (7 Mar 25) - It’s Friday, so it was the weekly round I play with the men’s group.  Solid day scoring wise for me - 42 front/ 41 back for an 83.  Of the 8 pars - 6 were up and downs (yeah buddy, those short game drills are paying off).  Best hole of the day was #13, a pretty straight up par 5.  Third shot was a 90 yarder - I played the INDI 50° to less than 2’ for a kick in birdie.  Its siblings were on as well - it was a short game kind of day.  It was not all good stuff with 3 dbl bogies….missed opportunities hurt the score still a great day to make the most of nGIR (thanks Erik for the teaching on this in Lowest Score Wins).
    • Day 158 - 2025-03-07 Edited a podcast, submitted my PGA award "stuff," and… got some wedge work in. Long day tomorrow so it's going to be tough.
    • There was also a partial tear of my rotator cuff. I see what you mean and no my hips and torso have nothing to do with my bicep.
    • Indeed. It is. RIP to them both. All-time scene here from Unforgiven:   "Deserve's got nothin' to do with it."
    • Day 28: 3/7/25 Plenty of putting through 50 mm gates today.
