Looking for a good putting mat (ball return would be cool I guess but I don't really care about that) that wont break the bank. Can anyone recommend a good one?

you can putt on your own carpet at home just to work on the putting stroke and distance control. I use to chip into a wire princess house that folds on my couch with pillows on the bottom.

My carpet is weird it has a square pattern and the edges of all the squares are higher then the rest of the carpet so it is really bumpy. Otherwise I would love to be able to just use the carpet. I still do it sometimes but it always rolls off target.

I am thinking about starting a project with my dad to make our own indoor putting green in his garage. It will be elevated, built with a wood platform and frame. The cups will be bottomless, leading into PVC pipe that returns the balls to a gathering area. Gonna be awesome.

you can go to any carpet store and they have green indoor and outdoor carpets that you can lay in any room except the one with the squares

I bought one of the Accuity ones awhile back. It's about eight feet to the hole. It has a slight incline to help with touch plus a water & sand trap with a cheapie strip of plastic ball return that usually only brings them back halfway. It works for what it is. It would be nicer if it was twice as long and the balls returned better. No electrical gizmos witch is a good thing. I've seen many variations of this type from different manufacturers and they all look like they came out of the same building.

The front hall carpeting in the house does work pretty decent for going long. It's about 25 ft. long and runs pretty true but is really fast. I only bought one of those plastic tray thingies with a little lip so there is no ball return. I should just buy another and putt a few back and forth.
