In my bag currently.

Ping Rapture 12 degree driver
Ping Rapture 21 degree hybrid
Callaway X-24 Hot Irons (5I through PW), 5i is 25 degrees
Cleveland CG15 Wedges, 48, 52 and 58 degree
Nike Method #1 Putter

What should i do for the big gap between my driver and hybrid? and is the gap between my 21 degee hybrid and my 5 iron too large? I have a 4 iron thats part of the x-24 hot's but its 22 degrees and i cannot hit it very well.

All thoughts welcome. Looking more for hybrid/wood advice and what degree loft to get as i love the ping rapture series

I'd either add a 3w or a similarly lofted hybrid... something between 15 and 17 degrees...

Probably would add that 4i into the bag, even though it is only 1 degree in difference from the 21 degree hybrid, the hybrid should get you quite a bit more distance.

Also, what loft is your PW... I ask because I think you may not really need the 48 degree wedges as they are essentially the same thing.

Any school of thought if i should get the 17 degree hybrid or the 16 degree 3 wood? Will i find situations where certain ones work better than others? I really struggle on the 210 to 220 yard par 3 uphills at my home course. My driver is too much, hybrid is not enough. I will add the 4 iron back in, just need to work with it more to add consistency. My PW is 45 degrees...i use the 48 for approaches from 110 or so effectively thus far, maybe its all mental though

If your PW is 45*, then I'd probably would leave in the 48* as well... keeps you from having too big of a gap down there. Personally, I'd go with the 3w, I think that if nothing else it works as a great back up driver... If you really like the PING Rapture series that may be a good place to start. If possible, go somewhere like a Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy where you can hit a bunch of different 3 woods and hybrids and see what you like and are comfortable with.

Here is another vote for a 3 wood as it will fill the gap between the driver and hybrid quite well. Certainly try some out before you purchase so that you can see if you get it up in the air enough. Some people who have trouble getting the ball airborne have found success with 4 woods.

Adding a 3 wood will bring you to 13 clubs if I am counting correctly. Instead of bringing the 4 iron back, you could consider replacing it with a hybrid in the 24* range so that you can fill that smaller gap between your 21* hybrid and 5 iron. Best of luck!

Go for a 4-wood to fill in the gap in between your driver and hybrid. Also don't be too stuck on loft differences. A 21° should go considerably longer than a 22° iron. If you can't hit the 4 iron well, it may hurt to have it in the bag while playing. Should definitely practice. You should list your distances with each club to get better help. What are your distances with the driver, hybrid, 5 iron, pw, 48°, 52°, and 58°?

No doubt about it...you should either get an air wedge or a tour striker.

i hit the 3 wood, 4 wood and 17 degree hybrid, i liked the rapture v2 4 wood the best so went with that. I found it easier to hit than the 3 wood.

Driver 215 to 230 yards, just added this to my bag a few days ago, i am much stronger in my irons Hybrid, 185 to 195 yards 5 Iron 170 to 180 yards, keep in mind the loft on my 5 iron for the x-24's is closer to that of most 4 irons in other sets PW 125 yards Not entirely sure on the 48, 52, and 58 as i hit them thin far too often

On random question about my driver...i purchased it at Dicks Sporting Goods about two weeks ago when i saw it on clearance for 149.99....it has a diamana blue 63 shaft on it, but when i go to ping.com that doesnt seem to be available, is this a custom shaft? Isn't it weird that this driver has that?

    • I don't have enough details to know what to tell you, man. If they were walking across, to play devil's advocate, maybe just wait another 10 seconds next time.
    • Day 11: Putts with a metronome and worked on some feels for greenside shots.
    • I realize the frame cuts off my tail but wanted to specifically see my hand path and club shaft and head travel from A5 to A7 with the grip and posture work I have been doing . This might be the shallowest I have managed to get the club head to enter into impact. I like the finish much more as well.
    • Context:  I used to play golf very regularly (and when I'm playing regularly, I'm on TST regularly).  In summer 2022, I got my handicap down to a personal-best 11.9.  Unfortunately, in the three years since then, I've had far less time to play, and didn't really make the time to practice.  I've played a bit more the past few months, and I anticipate having a lot more time to practice starting in about two months, at which point I'm hoping to go back to my old practice habits (practicing daily, Evolvr lessons, spending more time on TST (come to think of it, I can do that important last part now)).   But it was thinking about how different my nines have been a few times in the past month or so that made me wonder if there was a thread here about it, and sure enough, there was.  In the past month or so, I've had a 38-46 and a 45-39.
