oh well right now i use the f/speed driver from cobra and hit an average of atleast 210 yards but with the SQ sumo2 i hit it about 240-250 each time so maybe it is just the shade of the Callaway and Nike those will be the top sellers

Personally, (and this is coming from a HUGE Callaway fan), I think it's a marketing gimmick. I think these companies are pushing square clubs on us as an attempt to jumpstart the market again, while they figure out ways to scientifically improve their clubs and staying withing the driver conforming guidelines of the USGA. Before, it was big-bigger-biggest.....then titanium-titanium/mix-composite etc....Square clubs will die down (if you remember there already was some square drivers a few years back) once these companies get a handle on the restrictions....imho. I think lack of change/breakthrought technology that stays within the limits is what lead to the screws that are moveable in drivers, and now the "square-ness". It's all about spiking the market and bucking the trend...And hey, if it gets you pumped and you pound it- then they did their job.

Well, I got a new Ping Rapture in October. I spent a whole afternoon on the launch monitor and hit every club in the store and every loft and every shaft. I had 3 salesmen taping up club after club for me to hit. The Rapture was the only NEW technology there.

Friends, the clubs were all "grouped" into a circle in regard to results and that Rapture was FAR beyond them in every desireable category. I bought it.

Bottom line, I think my Rapture will be as good or better then these square drivers BUT those three clubs (Sumo squared, Ft-i and Rapture) will outdo ANYTHING out from last year. I had a G5 and the Rapture is FAR beyond that.

I stopped by to say hello to my golf teacher the other day. He NEVER changes drivers and has been playing a G2 9.5 with a Graf Blue stiff shaft for two years. Yup, he's now got a Rapture 9º in the bag with an Aldila stiff VS Protopype shaft.

If he's got one it's good. He's one of the best in the state of Wisconsin.

It's a great driver and I had the chance to hit it! Long and straight no question!

If you can get beyond the looks it's an awesome driver. I currently play the FT3 with a Diamana 63 stiff and crush the ball. The FTi was effortless and very long! I will definitely make the switch!

Had a chance to demo both the FT-5 and the FT-i side by side during a fitting session. Both were damned impressive drivers, but the FT-5 outperformed the FT-i. The FT-i generated more backspin due to the square shape, and flew a bit straighter as a result, but this also caused a very slight loss in distance when compared to the FT-i. i hit both in 10- and 9-degree with stiff shafts (swing speed 104 mph) and the FT-5 10 degree was comparable in ballflight and distance to the F-Ti 9 degree. The 9-degree FT-5 gave a bit more roll as a result of the lower ballflight, and ended up about 10 yards further than the FT-i. Your mileage may vary.

    • Swing check. Cons: The countertop drill hasn't taken yet. Not crazy about A5 to A6 hand path. Pros: Decent BS width at A2 and right elbow at A4. All in all, not terrible but meh..
    • Day 74 (14 Jul 25) - Late afternoon session w/9i, magnetic alignment stick, Divot board and hard foam balls.  Worked on getting the face square at setup and then returning to same through the swing.  The lines on the Divot Board served as referenced parallels for the alignment stick.  Did hit a few balls about 30 total - half with using the alighment stick on the club face and half without.  First time working with the magnetic alignment rod - really reveals when you have the face closed/open/etc.
    • I mean, that is what I figure would be the case.  My mind is just trying to wrap around the idea that 22" left = feet aiming like 15 yards left visually. It's like in a CADD system, if the flag is the base point when you scale an image, it stays in the same spot as you get closer (scale up) or get further away (scale down).  I can image how if you have a 10-yard chip, it could look much more like your feet are aimed nearly 22" left of the flag.  Now I want to try to make some measurements and quantify this 🤣.  Yes, they do. Yea, that is true.
    • Closer to like 22" than 36. Why wouldn't the target line (ball) be at the target (flag) with your feet parallel left of that? Perception messes with a lot of people. Almost all righties tend to aim to the right, because what feels parallel left — particularly given that your eyes are "between" the ball and your feet — feel like they're pointed MILES left even when they're square. Also, there's no rule that you have to be parallel left of the target line. I like to be slightly open at setup.
    • Depends on the lie, pin location, green.  I would say most of my pitches are with my 60-degree.  Its probably like 90% 60-degree, 10% 56 degree.
