Since my last round of golf i went onto the range to try sort out the problem with my wedges etc and i need to stop the shanking i am even doing it with a chip beside the green.

Also my normal shot is a fade and even when i open up my alginment more for a fade i keep hitting a pull draw which i dont want.

I still do this from time to time myself. Chances are, you are swinging too much left (OTT) and and throwing your hands at the ball at the same time. Thats what i do anyway. I rotate left too fast.

I dunno..it just kinda goes away on its own for me. But i guess practice hitting some chips with your weight neutral instead of all over your left side. When i shank chips and wedges, my weight gets so far left that i end up pivoting too much on that leg, then then i end up swinging out and over.

Will give it a go on the range 2mo and see where i go from there.

When I was pulling chips it was because I was trying to swing too straight on my backswing. Once I figured that it needs to go around the arc even tho it is such a small swing my chips started to straighten out. So I still thought about swinging my hands on a path around my body just like the full swing.

I had a severe pull/hook problem and took a lesson to resolve it about a month ago and here is what i was told. After taking my address position the instructor had me hold the club straight in front and it was easy to see that groves were pointing towards 11:00. I changed my grip so groves were at 12 and went to hit the ball and shanked it 3-4 times. Impact tape went on the club face and I was hitting the ball pretty much on the hosel. I think I developed the strong grip to avoid shanks in the past but learned live with the pull. The instructor told me to try to get the feeling of hitting off the toe of club (very hard for me). I eventually moved the impact to the center of the club face. The feeling was so smooth I can honestly say in the past 6-7 years of playing I don’t think I ever hit the ball on the sweet spot.

coming over the top..might be leading with the hosel and not squaring the face. you could have your weight to far onto your toes, or you could be too close to the ball...guess its hard to say exactly without seeing it.

Problem sorted. I went on the range and used the method the towel trick. But i tryed it without the towel to keep my arms close to body and it stopped the pull and the shanking. Ball striking improved :D
