So I know there are several different was to shaft a putter, and I'm wondering how much of a difference do these different styles actually make? I ask because I'm somewhat longingly gazing at a Nike Method putter, but there are 3 different blade styles with 3 different aiming dots/lines, and 3 different styles of how the shaft is put into the putter. I know that for putters there's always Heel Shafted, Center Shafted, and Rear Shafted putters, but the part that confuses me is the Plumbers Neck, Mid Slants, Straight Shafted, Curved...etc

What exactly are these different styles supposed to do? For example Rocco Mediate in a youtube video about what's in his bag talks about how his sabertooth is straight shafted in because he prefers that.

im not really sure about this but my semi-educated guess would be that they dictate the kind of stroke one uses to putt the ball. For example I would assume that a center shafted putter as well as putters with long goose necks that slant are for people that prefer to putt with a straight back and straight through stroke. Whereas putters that are heel shafted allow the toe to open and shut more easily for people that like to putt with a natural stroke; meaning that the blade opens on the way back and shuts on the way through. most mallet style putters lean toward a straight back and straight through stroke.
