Call them tomorrow. Tell them you've decided you want a refund, not a raincheck. You won't be returning.Make sure to inform the director of golf and any business manager(s) the course has. Tell them that the marshall saw you being hit into, knew you had been hit into before by this person, and did nothing.

I'd concur with this advice, but with one twist - send them a letter. A verbal complaint may achieve some satisfaction, but generally a written statement of the problem carries more weight - it isn't going to be forgotten a week later, and the course will inherently feel some further concerns for liability if they have employees like the marshall failing in their job duties and that those failures are documented in writing. And please don't feel you don't want to name the course for fear of libel or anything...all you're doing is sharing your experience and there is not legal liability.

There is a different thread under the title "Is Joining a Country Club Worth It?". I think your experience is "Exhibit A" is support of the idea.

Ten years ago, I would have stood and fought, but now I am older and wiser. Leaving was the right thing to do. Still, it rubs me the wrong way since I wasn't doing anything wrong and felt like I had to leave for my own safety.

If you are older and wiser, you should have just let him pay through. right or wrong, he was being irrational, and no amount of "No sir, i didn't cut in front of you" and continue playing was going to make him think otherwise. After he hit into you the first time, I would have waved him through. No sense in having some crazy guy behind you messing with your round. I woulda just let him through and forgot about it.

This was Turnberry in Pickerington and is part of the Columbus local muni system. The reason I hesitated in naming the course is other than the one marshal who saw the guy hit into me, the rest handled the situation pretty well.

I will play there again. As someone mentioned, usually the people in Central Ohio are very nice and I see this as unusual behavior.

My wife graduates nursing school in 10 months and when she does we are going to join a local "golf club." Until she graduates, money is tight so the local muni courses is where I need to play.

Thanks everyone for the comments and thoughts. It took every inch of my will power not to hit the ball back at this guy, and if he wanted to play through, I would have let him. That wasn't what he wanted - he wanted me off the course. Because he was pushing me, and I was trying to outrun him, I caught the group in front of me anyway. Plus,he didn't realize there was a girls golf league two holes ahead of us. So, even though he created a scene about getting his round in, he was going to hit a road block.

I didn't tell him. I figured he was mad enough anyway.
