Used an OUTDOOR launch monitor today.

for most of us a launch monitor is taken with a grain if salt because it is usually inside, and we don't really get an idea of the ball flight or distances. I'm the same way. however, I've been suspect that my spin rate on my driver is too high and that a heavier shaft might help me. today my coach got me on an outdoor launch monitor.......crazy things ensued. I normally don't pay attention to numbers like ballspeed and all of that because if I can hit a distance 10 times out of ten with the same club then who cares. so I took out my 150 yard club and hit 10 balls to the 150 yard green.....sure enough the launch monitor had me anywhere from 149 to 154 yards.

my ballspeed numbers for the day really got me tickled today. 7 iron. 20 shots ballspeed AVERAGE = 128 mph. distances ranging from 191 to 208 yards.

then came out the driver...... 50 shots ranging in carry from 288 to 314 yards. ok ...... normal stuff I'm used to. the spin rate sure enough was high....... 3300 rpm. What got me though was the ballspeed...... 185 - 197mph . I couldn't believe it. my clubhead speed on about a 3rd of the shots was above 130mph.

It was a really neat experience and confirmed my suspicions about my driver shaft. couldn't help but share.

i have never heard of clubhead speed of 130, tigers' is 118. Sergio Garcia's is 115
yeah aim for 2400 rpm spin rate...3300 bit high

i notice you claim driver distance of 310 yards and sometimes carry a 1 iron, but are not getting heckled like i do.

launch monitors are critical to diagnose correct shaft particularly in the driver....

what type of ball were you using? they should be the type you normally use, but the launch monitor needs to use a ball set up for the machine with dots on it..
