I remember when Titleist first came out with their ProV1's shortly after they came out with a practice version, I am not sure if they still do sell a practice ball. I was just looking at an on-line golf retailer and they had Callaway HX Hot and HX Tour 56 practice balls that say *Practice* on they and are selling for $10.00 and the regular price at $25 for the HX Hot. Selling price for practice is $25 and $40 regular price for HX Tour 56.

The description(s) say
"These have the words "Practice" stamped on them, but otherwise the same as HX Hot"
"These have the words "Practice" stamped on them, but otherwise the same as HX Tour 56"

What do you think?

I wonder if these are balls that didn't pass muster, maybe for cosmetic reasons, like x outs.?

X-outs have physical imperfections (missing urethane, out of round, etc), while practice balls have only cosmetic imperfections. Neither is legal for tournament play according to the USGA.

I stocked up on the old Titleist Practice Pro V's before the change, and I'm loving them. Although I'm running a bit low these days.
