What does it mean when a ball is an X-OUT? Do they play like a regular ball? Are there any differences?

An X-out is a ball that has a defect in the manufacturing process. Most of the time the defect is purely cosmetic and has little or no effect on the way the ball plays. Basically the ball manufacturer made a mistake, can't sell it as a "premium" ball, and doesn't want to just toss the ball in the trash so they sell them at discount. They are perfectly alright to play with except in some tournaments they are illegal since they are not on the USGA conforming ball list.

Ok, cool. I found some Titleist Pro V1 X-OUT's for $11.95 a dozen. They are supposed to be grade 1 & 2. They are supposed to be in "like new condition." I will probably buy a couple dozen and try them out.
