Hello All,

I currently have the Taylormade 07 burner and am thinking of picking up the R9 460 (at Rockbottom golf for 139!). I was wondering how the 2 compare? I hit the 07 decently well, but would like to take advantage of the adjustments in the R9. I'm a shorter golfer at 5'5" and am thinking the 2 flat lie would help (its in my irons).

Thoughts?

Thanks!

My dad and I both have the 460. It is an amazing driver. The adjustments really help. The club face is very forgiving and the Aldila shaft is very nice as well.

I have the 460 and like it alot. The only complaint I have is the workability, no matter what I try to do with the ball it pretty much just goes straight. Not something to worry about with a 30 index though.

My brother used to have the '07 burner, and it was a pretty nice club. It sure was long but I found it a bit harder to control and didn't like the feel all that much.

I'd say go for the 460, it's long, forgiving, and looks great. Plus it has the adjustable clubhead which is great.

I say stay with the Burner 07, think this is one of the best driver heads that Taylormade made for the masses. Just know that the if you have the stock RE*AX shaft on the Burner, the R9 shaft will feel very different from your current shaft. You live in a big city so I'm sure you can take your current club and try it against the R9 at a bix box store.

Played an 07 Burner up until 2 weeks ago, when I noticed that Golfsmith had several drivers on sale.
I hit the Adams Speedline, Cleveland HiBore XL, TM R9 460, Nike Machspeed, the PING i15, and Callaway FT9 on the monitor with one of the sales reps. The TM R9 felt clunky to me. I really liked the HiBore XL, even though it is a 3 yr old model.

I recommend hitting five or so different drivers on a launch monitor and seeing what you like.. What looks, feels, sounds, and hits well will vary between individuals.

Hey uttexas, thanks and yah i think i'll go into gg or gs to compare them. But what do you mean by clunky? Was it the sound of the head? I hear its louder than the 07 burner. Or could it just be the stock shaft? Thanks!

Lots of people love the R9, but to me, it felt unbalanced (could have been the particular club I was hitting). I tested the R9 in "neutral" set up. As the shaft dropped below waist high on the downswing, the clubhead felt like it had understeer. Hard to describe--I don't steer the clubhead into the impact zone, but the clubhead felt like it wanted to travel out/away from me.

For me, it came down to the Speedline, the i15, and the HiBore XLS. What I liked the most about the XLS was that it was a tour model (club head 2-3* open). It was also on sale $139. The Speedline and i15 were significantly more expensive. My good drives are a push draw. My occasional worst miss is a pull overdraw (a terrible shot). With the HiBore XLS tour, I am able to minimize my worst miss. I played 18 holes last weekend with my new driver and am very happy with my decision.

My golf instructor recently told me about the R9 he was raving about the driver. He plays Titleist on all his clubs and gets demo clubs years before they hit the market from all makers. He had the Hibore that I have in my bag sent to him for free way before it ever came out on the market. He told me that of all the clubs he has ever played or demoed, this is the best club he has used. He said he accually paid for the club and bought one for his son. I have been looking on the net for a good price. That is a good price for $139.00

What's in my bag
SQ driver 9.5 degree
VR Irons 4-AW
White Ice #1
