I am looking to switch from my odyssey 2 ball to a blade putter. My local pro shop has several Nike method putters that are on sale and they feel very nice. All of the SC are out of stock for the time being, so i would have to order one. Before I spend an extra $100 on a SC, i would like to hear some feedback from people that have used both. Is the Scotty worth the extra money? I know it is a personal preference and that putting is about confidence, but do the two feel that much different. I was looking at the SC newport or newport 2. Thanks

I myself hate any sort of insert, so that would make my decision for me.

Be sure to search the forum, you'll find hundreds of pages on the 'SC Worth...' question.

Go with whichever putter you like the look and feel of. The method is a very good putter as well.

I myself like the insert in my #1 so thats makes the decision for me.

Is it the older white hot where the whole face is an insert? I don't mind those. I just don't like the idea of the insert thats just in the middle of the putter head.

Any reason as to why you are switching over from the 2 ball to a blade?

I've tried out all sorts of Scotty Camerons but I game a Method. They feel different to me but not by much. I can confidently game any of the premium putters in the same design without hurting my game. I do love the GSS insert Scotty Cameron from a few years ago though.

And I would agree, none of my putters have inserts, I think it throws off the feel of the putter. But that is all personal preference.

Yes, it's the older one. I really liked the Black series (#1) but why buy another putter when the one I got works fine?! Like many have already said feel is a purely a personal thing. I tried to get next to a SC (Newport 2 Studio) for a full season and just couldn't dial it in. Nothing wrong with the putter, it's the putt-ee. I still keep the SC around and will pull it out on occasion but after 15 minutes or so on the green my decision is confirmed. Point is when you find "the one" you will know it. Ego drove me to the SC, humility (34+/round) brought me back to the Odyssey.

I game a Scotty and love it... However, I've used a Method in the store and really like the way that it feels as well. As much as I love my Scotty, I'd have a hard time spending $100 more on it over a Method. If you like the way the Method feels and there is one that suits your eye (and putting stroke) then I say go with it.

Thanks for the help. And wrx_junkie, i just can't get the speed right with the 2 ball. It helps for alignment, but that's about it. I either leave it short or it goes way past the whole. After comparing some blade putters to my 2 ball, i just feel like i can judge the distance better. I also don't like the insert of the odyssey. I don't get enough feel from it. I might try the odyssey black series as well.

Have you tried toying around with the putter? How tall are you? What's the length of the putter? Does the putter feel light?

I've had similar results with my 2 ball. Alignment is great, but my feel and distance control isn't optimal.

I've never met a 2-ball user who was a good putter because of it. I play with a guy who is a good putter while using it, but he putts even better with his old Rossi blade.

No i haven't toyed with it. I am 6-1 and the putter is 35 inches long. It doesn't feel too light i don't think...

If you are considering a blade style of Scotty and Nike, I would recommend you test out a Rife Antigua or Aruba as well if they have one at your local shop. I just switched from a Studio Style Newport, which I loved but did not really fit me, to a Cayman Brac. This is basically the same as the Antigua/Aruba which look closer to the classic Ping blade that Scotty and Nike use. For 1/3 the price at TGW of a Scotty it was well worth it. When I rolled it at the shop it didn't have the pop off the face as the Scotty (with insert), but man does it roll the ball nice, I've never rolled it better. This is due to the grooves, but the with a light grip, slow smooth and low stroke through the ball, I have complete feel and control of that of a $300 putter. I can honestly say it's the best $100 I've spent in my bag yet. Of course like you said, everyones feel is different but it could save you $100-200

Also check out if you can find a leftover Mizuno Bettinardi. They were selling for $100 at retail stores ever since Bettinardi left Mizuno. Premium putters for a great price! Think one was posted up for sale on here not too long ago.
