Fantasy Golf/Practice Talk

Although my fantasy team got off to a slow start, it was still nice to watch some real golf yesterday as the SBS Championship kicked off the PGA season. I watched alot of golf last season, but it's even more fun now that I have certain players I'm rooting for. Of course the other consequence is that now I'm ticked off when one of my guys is tanking. I found myself making snide remarks like, "Yeah, nice job Strick. Way to mail it in buddy." Probably the nicest guy on tour and here I am calling him a bum because he didn't get me any fantasy points.

Went to the range yesterday morning, and things began poorly. I hit the first 15-20 balls thin with my 8-iron and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. I felt like I was making good swings and hitting down on the ball, but every one made that awful "CLACK" off the clubface.

Eventually I fixed the problem by going to a much steeper shoulder turn. I have worked on this in the past, but I have a tendency to drift back to a flat and layed off backswing. I know some people do OK with a flat swing, but it just doesn't work for me. Once I started thinking left shoulder down I was hitting my irons really crisp for the rest of the session.

Still need to figure something out with the driver. A majority of the drives I hit at the range are solid, but I can hit some real stinkers too. I know if I don't eliminate or at least improve those mis-hits, they will continue to show up on the course in pressure situations.
