So Im gonna start a blog about my trials and tribulations on the practice tee. This is a nice way to track my progress (or digression ) and if others are even interested they can follow along as well.

I decided to buy a nice HD video camera and a tripod to record myself swinging. I thought I was sooo close to becoming single digits till I posted up some video of my swing here Seems like I have some serious work to do to gain a consistent and reliable swing.

Im very grateful for all the help Ive received so far on here and am looking forward to all the future help. Erik, the owner of this great place has given me invaluable advice thus far and I am really happy to be a part of this site.

So I went into this new way of practicing, constructive practicing some may call it, thinking that all I needed to do was get rid of my casting move and I'd be good. Little did I know that these are the problems I currently have with my swing:

1)Takeaway, I take the club away decently, but inside because my hands go OUT instead of getting deep. I thought this would be a one session fix but after posting up the sessions video, I didnt make much progress at all. I was very discouraged, but the it definitely made the fire under my ass even hotter. Im going to head to the range again tomorrow and work on this takeaway again.

2)My body (ass) moves toward the ball on the downswing instead of a nice hip slide and transfer toward the target. Erik has given me some good drills for this, but Ive gotta get the takeaway down pat before I move onto this.

3)I dont hold my finish. I dont know if this is because I move toward the ball on the downswing, or if I release the club to early, but I have a very short and high finish. Lately my ball flights have been short high fades, I think my follow through has a lot to do with that.

Theres more, but thats enough stuff to "fix" for a couple months at least. I'll post up some blogs after each session with hopefully just a little improvement each time.

All I think about all day is my golf swing. Which is good, I really enjoy mastering something, but I thought it would be easier than this. The challenge is welcome though as I will overcome this and get down to the single digits by summer!

The range is getting expensive for me 3 times a week, so hopefully I can make quicker progress and save a little money!

Take it easy, see ya next time!

Jim, like you I am obsessed with golf lately and trying to grind my way down to single digits. One thing to remember is that your swing doesn't need to be "perfect" to shoot good scores. I am trying to look at my golf swing more as a process instead of searching for that miracle fix. Swing changes can take a long time (as Iacas mentioned) so be patient and have fun. Your hard work will pay off!
