Let's go to the video tape ... OK maybe not.

An ice-hockey coach can go to the video tape to see what went wrong during a game. For most of us mere mortal golfers there's no such thing, at least not during a round.

Shot a semi-putrid 9 holes today -- only two off the pace, but sure would be nice to have a video tape of the whole thing to try to figure out what went wrong. But there wouldn't be enough angles to figure out why I took so much sand of those two bunkers, but thinned the third sand shot a ways too far.

Or why I topped the driver shot left and pulled two 5 woods left.

Would be nice to see that 30 foot putt that perfectly capture a 12 foot breaking curve downhill to within inches of the hole for a tap in.

Or the point where I pulled the flag, walked to the ball, could no longer see the hole and forgot where it was, on another 30 footer. But was in a hurry so I just guessed and putted to within 18 inches and then blew what should have been a simple gimme.

Maybe no videotape after all.
