Scratch that folks.

Just came home from my physical and was diagnosed with a hernia. I'll be going to another doctor friday to check it out further. As for now, I can't play any golf and I can't work at all (darn that's just too bad...... well the golf part is anyway...)

If you wanted to keep up with this golf season blog, I'll try and keep everyone posted to all the goings-on this season.

Hope everyone's drives are straight, and if you must shank it, hit someone you hate.

That sucks, I have been there. My junior year of High School I found out I had a hernia just before our season started. I somehow managed to play through it though. A mixture of pain relievers, compression shorts, soft swings and a very uncomfortable hernia belt got me through it. Had surgery the week after our district tournament, and was back on the course 3 weeks after.

Sorry to hear that, man. Did he say what type it was (probably a sports or inguinal hernia)? Do you actually feel any pain? Either way, assuming the diagnosis is correct, I believe surgery is about the only option. If so, I think the recovery time is typically 6-8 weeks. But, I'm not a doctor and they may have different treatments nowadays. Maybe the coach will hold a roster spot for you.

Wishing you the best of luck...

Get well soon. I just tweaked my back myself. It's the same muscle in my back that cost me 6 months in 2009. I'm pretty down right now, but I doubt I'm out longer than 2 months honestly. It doesn't feel nearly as bad. Anyway, as someone who has dealt with injuries, you just gotta stay patient, catch up on your reading, and do your best to stay positive.

Thank you sirs. The doctor who gave me my physical (I did get a woman doctor ;)) checked me out and when I coughed she said "Oh.... cough again?" and when I did she said "Looks like you have a hernia...". My dad was diagnosed with his hernia by the same doctor a few years ago and has had nothing wrong with it. I'm hoping it's very minor like his, and I can continue golfing. Thanks for your concern guys!
