It took my back a few days to heal, and even longer for my ego. I realize I'd approached that first round with completely unrealistic expectations. I assumed (yeah, i know, ass u and mostly me) that since I could hit the ball well off mats that grass would be the same...wrong! Was also a big difference hitting at a range by yourself versus on a golf course with other people watching you.

My back was feeling better and I decided to visit the range to figure out what went wrong. For some reason I didn't realize my swing had fallen apart somewhere from that first range hit and the 2nd to the point I couldn't hit my 7i off the mats. I went through all the basics my instructor told me and worked it out so that I was back to hitting my irons consistently. I went home feeling I accomplished something and was back on track.

I didn't bother going for another lesson because I knew I'd have to have my swing consistent before we could move on to woods and driver. I hit the range every other day, hitting between 80 - 120 balls with my irons, just to get the muscle memory of my swing. In doing that I also noticed that I starting to get more of my body active and that subconsciously I was transferring my weight and finishing with my back heel up and on the side of my front foot. I also noticed my shots were going about 5 - 10 yards longer than they had been.

I was feeling pretty good about my swing and results, so much so that I was actually considering trying out my new driver....
