Thinking about picking up the Sean Foley DVD, The Next Generation. My questions is, do these dvds really work or is it better to just go to a local PGA pro? Reason being is that I like his swing philosophy and overall curious to see what he can teach me, and hey let's face it, I can use some help :) At $35, it's a great price especially if you can benefit from it. What's your opinion, thanks!

I buy a lot golf dvds. I enjoy them and have learned something from most all of them. Watching Dave Stockton's putting dvd this morning. Got the 3 pack from his website last week. Phil's short game dvds are great. I ordered the Foley dvd but like everyone else I am waiting. They have not shipped any dvds to my understanding but in the next week or two should be shipping. However, dvds don't replace good instruction. Find a good pro and work with them regularly. Watch all the dvds you want, but I would not let it take the place of good 1:1 instruction.

Honestly, nothing beats one on one instruction so long as you have a good instructor.  The problem for many (myself included) is price.  It is much cheaper to go the DVD route and you can still get good instruction but you just have to be more on top of things.  In my case, I am doing S&T; and (at least to my knowledge) the closest S&T; instructor is about 3 hours away (San Diego); so that prohibits me as well.  For now, I will be sticking with the S&T; DVDs as well as the Golf Evolution YouTube videos; this has helped me significantly to this point so we'll see how far that takes me.  Once I stop improving on my own, my plan is to sign up for evolvr.
