Need New Driver

I have a three year old Callaway Hyper X with a 45 1/2 " fit-on r- flex shaft with a frequency of 241 and a 11 degree loft.  It has been the best driver I have ever owned.  Any recommendations on a more technical club? I have no brand preference.

Replaced my Callaway 460X this fall with a Cobra S2 and just love it.

Are you looking for some adjustability? The Titleist 910 or the Taylormade R11 might be for you if that's the case. I'd personally check out the Ping G15 or the new Adams Speedline that's being released in January.

+1 for the G15 I hit one at demo day over the summer and the ball jumps off the club face. I bought one with the help of a bday gift card last week as soon as my finger recovers from surgery and the weather gives me a chance I'm heading to the range. I love my FT tour but if the ping is longer and straight then I will sacrifice workability.

Based on what you had before, the Ping G15 is a good choice.  That said, more than anything, make sure that you also get fitted with the proper shaft.

If its the best driver you have ever owned then why not stick with it... Did it break or something?

If it isn't broke and you like it, stick with it.... I know it's tempting to go out and get new a new one with all of these great new models out, but so long as there isn't actually something wrong with your club than you should keep it.

Yea i second that notion...if it's the best club you've ever owned, why the change? if it's broke and it's somethin you love, fix it. otherwise look elsewhere...test a bunch of different clubs/shafts to suit your liking. you could read endless marketing or you could trust what's in your hands when you hit it well. just my .02

You must be rather tall.  A driver with a 45 1/2 inch length is rather long for most golfers.  The standard length for steel shafts is 43 " for steel  and 44 " for graphite.  Your height and distance from the wrist to the ground are the two determining factors for length of club.  If you are having good results, then stay with what you have.  If not, you might consider getting measured and the result may be even better distance.

Your information seems a little outdated. 45" is pretty standard these days. 43" was standard for steel, yes.

Taylormade Burner. i got one on clearance this year because they had the new r9's coming out and i hit that burner 10 yards further than i hit my old one. and its super forgiving. Plus i can really work the ball a lot better with it. I tried some of the cleveland drivers and i didnt really like them too much, Callaways drivers are pretty sweet although i really dont like the diablo but thats just because of looks, i never hit it but my friend has one and he loves it.

Look  Adams new & old speedine drivers. Before these they never had much of a name in driver department but now Id put them up there with the best of them.

If you're partial to callaways, why not try the diablo edge series or the ft-iz's? I agree with some of the guys question- why change it if you're doing well with it?

I use the Callaway Diablo Edge 10*, Reg flex, 45" shaft.  Great driver, straight, good distance, easy to work left/right, but no right /left (could be me though).

I demo-ed a Ping K15 3 weeks ago......holy sh*t, Batman, .....the ball jumps off that face.  I had a natural right/left draw on that thing.  Longer then the Callaway by 10-13 yards, more carry.  He had me hitting the K15 with a 46.25" shaft, stiff flex, in a 12* head.

Yep, I am  a tad taller then most with long legs.  All my clubs are +1".

If you like to try different stuff, go ahead and demo some new drivers.  But, don't buy at the first demo, try the clubs on different days, since most peoples swing can change from day to day.  What feels and goes well today may be crummy tomorrow.  BTW - I did not buy that K15 : )

I just picked up a FT-iz 10.5 (had been playing with FT5 - 13HT).  I love it!.  Ball screams off the face with a low/med trajectory. My FT5 hit beautiful moon shots (13deg HT) which helped my control, but in the end I was looking for a little more distance and I seemed to have found it with the FT-iz.  My golf buddies cautioned me about changing something that was working, but in the end I'm happy I switched.  Definitely try a few different clubs before you buy, you might release your Hyper X was better all along.
