Now that we've got a partner in Huddler who is constantly working to improve the site (unlike before with vBulletin), it's a good time to share with y'all an easy way to "file a bug." Filing a bug properly - with lots of good info - makes it easier for Huddler to find and ultimately fix the bug.

To report a bug, in order of preference,

  1. Submit it as a thread on this forum
  2. Send an email to support@thesandtrap.com
  3. Send a PM to me, iacas,

Here's a sample form you can copy and paste when reporting a bug:

What is broken: Briefly describe the problem you're having or the bug you're seeing.
Where was I (include URL)?: Tell us where you were on the site - viewing a forum thread, reading a PM, performing a search, editing your profile...
Browser Version/Operating System: Visit http://whatsmyuseragent.com/ and copy/paste the results here.
How many times? (Number of times you saw this problem, ex: only once, or it was repeatable, was it intermittant?)
Date? (when did this problem start happening to the best of your knowledge)
Steps to Reproduce (each step you took, even if it seems unrelated or obvious, put it in a list like this):
Expected: What result did you expect to happen?
Screenshot: A picture really is worth a thousand words sometimes.

Here's a sample bug report:

What is broken: I’m unable to post a reply to a thread in the Golf Talk forum. I get an error that says "You're unable to post because this is a sample bug report so there's no actual reason!"
Where was I (include URL)?: http://thesandtrap.com/thread/123456/sample-thread#post-654321
Browser Version/Operating System: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_6; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.19.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.3 Safari/533.19.4 - Mac OS X 10.6.6
How many times? I can't post. I've tried several times (at least four). I get the same error every time.
Date? Four minutes ago, today.
Steps to Reproduce (each step you took, even if it seems unrelated or obvious, put it in a list like this):
I logged into my account
I clicked on forum in the header
I visited the “Golf Talk” forum
I clicked on the “sample thread” thread title
I clicked on page 5
I quoted “username”’s post
I typed in the quick reply box at the bottom of the screen
I added a video from Youtube (here’s the Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=golfvideo0ZQ)
I clicked “reply”
I got the error message I quoted above.
I went back into the forum thread, but did not see my post.
I tried several more times and got the same error message.
Expected: The post should go through!
Screenshot: (No screenshot because I made this one up, but you can attach one for sure.)

    • Bryson got hit with a 2 shot penalty, after the round, for improving his lie on hole 5.  Here is a post on X, showing how he stepped on high grass when he was looking down his target line.  When they cut to the side shot, you can see how close he was behind the ball.  I think the R&A probably made the correct decision. You just have to be really careful when you are walking in the high grass, around the ball and where you are to make a swing.

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
