Did you guys catch this from last week? Day Two of the tourney. Jason Day caught his tee shot fat by about six inches and hit a 106 yard drive on the par-4 13th at Kapalua. I mean this completely in jest, but I do get some sort of mild enjoyment out of watching a pro screw up.

Too bad that the clip doesn't include the rest of the hole. He hit driver off the deck for his second shot, which ended up in a fairway bunker. I don't remember what club he hit for his third, but he hit it to 18 feet and then made the putt for a par.

Of course the pro manages a par after that tee shot, en route to a 7-under 66. Even when they're bad, these guys are good.

Apparently, he used a 3-iron off the tee on the next hole.

i read byron nelson's autobiography awhile back, and he talked about how at one point early in his pro career, he topped his driver really bad and it only dribbled about 50 yards off the tee box, but he then hit a 2-wood and then got up and down for his par too.  like you said... that's why they're pros.  they can make the worst shot possible and still somehow wrangle a par out of it a lot of the time.

That looked like me off the tee sometimes!!

I bet Jason handled that shot better than most weekend hackers do. I would have been hollering and cussing lol!
