I am the middle one but since I am really starting to take golf a little more serious I am going to try to get a little better knowing the rules. I was a weekend warrior up until last spring but since i have been really trying to study the swing I have gotten hooked on it and want to learn more and get better. My wife thinks I am a golf nerd know when I start talking golf.

I played enough high level high school golf and college golf as a walk on to click "rarely stumped."

I've never played competitive golf, unless you count playing skins with folks on my local pub links.

I voted for #2. However, I want to know the rules better, especially because at some point I'd love to coach golf or, at least, be some kind of volunteer. I'd love to take a seminar (or a series of seminars) on golf rules.

Same for me.  I know on my home course there are a lot of rules that wouldn't even come into play.  There is no out of bounds on the course, no lateral water hazards and such, the issues come up when you play on a new course or one that some of the rules you are not familiar with come into play.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

    • So no joke, last evening post work nine must have been the craziest side I've ever played: Bogey, double, double, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, double, birdie. Two gimme birdies, one 15 footer and one bonus bomb from prolly 35 feet on no. 9. Full disclosure, it's a super easy course when greens are running at an 8 with easy welcoming pins. Still, a couple of firsts there. Driver freed me up starting the fourth hole. Anyway, driver notes: 1) anti left left hand grip. 2) no structural bind on hands/grip. 3) left shoulder HAS to get up to chin with humerus completely detached from chest and shoulder socket (feel) Big game tomorrow, aiming to break 80.
