Why is it the more it snows... the more I think about golf???

After 5 years of successfully using a long putter I have decided to re-dedicate myself to using a standard blade putter. I recently put a new Tiger Shark Jumbo grip on my old Ping CU-5. My question has to do with the setup at address. It may be the new grip but the putter head is difficult to square at address. With a light grip it tends to "close" at address. Should I be addressing the ball with the toe up-heel down? It does seem to square the head better but I do not remember doing this in the past?  I do not have a straight back - straight forward stroke. Instead I often flip at contact but am hoping the new grip will quiet my wrists and hands.
