I purchased a set of Gigagolf GX922 irons last season, my previous set of irons being Tommy Armour 845s that had not aged so well, I expected a great difference in the two sets. I was right about them being different, just didn't anticipate what the differences would be.
First off, the clubs look great and the build quality seems fantastic for the money.
The downside for me has been how wide the sole is on these irons, they just feel too wide for my liking.
I have been researching another set of inexpensive irons, and today I stumbled upon the Acer XK irons.
I know these are not new, and I didn't just discover gold in the hills. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with these irons, or even the GX922 and the XKs.
Any insight would be appreciated.

I would steer clear from brands like those purely from a re-sale perspective. I bought Pinemeadow irons the first go around and now they are collecting dust. There are good deals to be had on ebay.  I just bought my 09 Burner irons for $229 (they are still $400 in stores). Before that I had a set of Nike Pro Combo Tours I bought for $150. I have bought and sold a couple other sets, but you get the point. I would be patient and just watch ebay auctions that are about to go off and you may get a nice set for the same money you are putting into clubs that you will never get anything for.  Good luck, it sounds like you want to be looking into some old Titleist or Mizuno irons. Some of their older models can be had cheap and are better versions of the old 845s (although they were a solid iron).

I have Acer XK irons.   The heads kinda small for my taste.  Previously I used Snake eyes irons which have bigger heads.   The sole is narrower than most irons I know.  So they are kinda like Cavity Back but with players iron sole.   They perform pretty good on the course.  I improved my accuracy with these irons.   Distance wise, they are about the same with my previous irons.   I don't get any extra distance with Acer XK.

I bought them because they were listed in Golf Digest Hot list 2009.   And for the price, they are really affordable.

I hope it helps.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
