PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Can someone design some software so that when I'm watching the golf, it mutes te sound every time Nick Faldo says "release...."

He must have said it 70 times on the first day of the WGC matchplay.

It's driving me nuts.

At least I don't have to watch any more of Dustin Johnson's swagger, with his "packed lunch" so proudly on display underneath his hipsters.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I agree, I find Faldo just annoying in general.  A great golfer, but not a good play by play guy IMHO.

I kind of liked Faldo early on in his broadcasting career when he was still trying to fit in - he didn't seem to talk as much and tried to make comments that added to the discussion.     But as he has gotten comfortable in the role it sort of seems his ego has caught up and he acts like he's the star of the broadcast, not the golfers - he almost seems to talk just to hear himself, and feels that any moment of silence demands that he come up with some witty or pithy remark.

I think he has gotten a little better since the beginning of the season but still not good.  Early in the season they had him analyzing all the slo mo swing vision things and it was terrible.  then they were showing slo mo of things that werent even golf swings.

I wish they would have Frank Nobilo doing more play by play stuff.  I think he is the best guy that they have at the golf channel right now.  he is more intelegent and has better things to say than any of the others.

"...and watch the club head reeeeeleeeease......" That's pretty funny! Now I'm going notice this much more now because of this thread. Oh well, I still like the guy. They do talk too much and I like the style European Tour announcers have but I don't mind Faldo's commentary. It does surprise me considering what type of player he was that he would take to commentating the way he has.

There have been numerous tournaments that i watched on mute and just had some tunes playing instead, it makes for a very relaxing broadcast and is far less annoying on most occasions.

    • Fantastic selection! And very little driving between them. Fingers crossed the weather is good to you.
    • Day 20: 2026.01.22 Hit about twenty balls at the range. Quietly pleased with how the changes are bedding in, surprsingly consistent ball flight. Hoping to film over the weekend to capture new movement.
    • You might also consider a tune-up lesson. Check and see if anything in your set-up or basic swing is holding you back. I have been playing for more than five decades, but on occasion I've had to make swing tweaks due to age, loss of flexibility, etc. You don't have to reinvent your swing. A couple of static set-up changes might really help out.
    • Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.
    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
