My index is a 15 and slowly working its way down, I'm in the market for new irons and I am deciding between the Mizuno MX-25 and the Titleist 755 irons. I've hit them and I am still torn as the MX-25s have the best feel and foregiveness but I like the 755's look and control on pure shots. I have only played two set of irons over the last 10 years (DCI OS & MX-20s) and will likely have my next set for 5 years. Any thoughts?

Greg F,

Both are great irons golfers can play all the way to a plus handicap. There's no way to go wrong. As you've mentioned, the Mizunos will feel the best since they are carbon steel, but the 755's are going to last the longest since they are stainless and feel pretty darn soft in their own right. The 755's also have a little less offset and a thinner topline, so they won't be quite as tempting to get rid of as you get better. Pick the one that fits your eye and game the best.

    • LIV golf was pretty close to me in 2023, at the same course that hosted the 2023 Senior PGA.  I didn't go to either one.  I do know a few people who went to the LIV event, and they said it was pretty well attended and pretty well run.  If I had free tickets, I might show up, but I'd probably have to drive 10 miles to park to get a shuttle to come back to within 5 miles of my house.
    • As long as "in town" means a drive of less than an hour, I'd probably go.  I've never actually been to a pro golf event, so it would be a novelty. Presumably, they'd be playing on a course that I'm not normally allowed to visit, so there would be an interest in just going to see the place. My tolerance for traffic is pretty minimal, so if massive headaches are predicted it would dampen my enthusiasm.
    • I would definitely buy tickets and go watch a round or two.
