Can someone explain the "push" or "carryover" as it relates to wagering?  If I am leading a match and my opponent want to "push" do I have to say yes? Help

A carryover is simple and usually occurs in a skins match. If two people tie a hole, then the money is added into the value of the next hole. It is possible for there to be multiple carryovers in a match and one or two holes to be the big money.

A push is when the winner decides to be nice. Basically you are allowing a chance for the person that has lost to get their money back. You are under no obligation to allow an opponent to push. If they want to push, they must up the ante just a little bit to make it worth it to you. If you're up by 20 bucks, they might ask you to allow them to push 10 bucks or so. It's ok, but make sure they have every intention of paying and aren't trying to weasel their way out of it.

You may be confusing "push" with "press".  A push, like in Vegas, is when two people tie.  I have never heard of a push bet in golf, but maybe I'm missing out.

A press is a 2nd bet made by a losing party in an attempt to get back their wager.  Say you two up in match play going to the 16th hole.  Your opponent asks to press his original bet for the last three holes, since it is almost a sure thing that you have won the original bet.  You then play the last three holes as a separate match.  If you lose, you break even, assuming the press bet equals the original bet.  If you win, you double your money.

You are correct sir. I should know that, my opponents are always pressing :)
