I have recently some problems with my shins.  I did a test where you wet your feet and stand on a paper bag to determine what style shoes you should be wearing.  I had just bought some new shoes and it turned out they were all wrong for me.  I switched shoes and the pain has gone away.  You might want to look at getting inserts for your golf shoes or maybe switching your normal everyday shoes.  The pain could also be caused by tightness in your calf and hamstring muscles.  Hopefully this helps

Do you ride alot or do you walk the golf course. It could be shin splints. Those are caused by weak leg muscles forcing the shins ligaments and tendons of the shin to bear alot of the weight while walking. I use to get them while i ran, but after working out more and loosing weight i don't get them at all.

I have shin splints right now from climbing steep stairs. About the only remedy is ICE, and I dread having to do it to myself. An ice pack wrapped in a towel is not cold enough.

I used to treat football injuries on the bench.  Fill paper cups with water and freeze.  Peel back paper and rub ice on patient.   The flesh needs to go numb and before this occurs every nerve is screaming to stop. When ice and fire feel the same the therapy is working. Ice a bit more after the muscle goes numb. This is torture.

PS: If the muscle turns black and falls off........you went to far!

I get them all the time man... it's a curse.

The only "cure" is stretching and icing.

Yup I get them too.  Especially if I just go to the range and don't walk.  After 60 or balls my left shin is on fire.  I think it has to do with posting up on the left leg on my follow through.  I was going to film myself to determine if I was doing something wrong or if it really was that my legs were just that weak.

I've been walking the course for about 3 months now...the walking isn't what causes it for me, but rather the actual swing.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
