So, 21 handicapper (currently), usually shoot somewhere around the mid 90s. Last weekend I had the single worst round of golf I have ever experienced. I couldn't contact the ball for love nor money, I mean it was Shanksville. Resorted to trying to chip my way round the course just to get it over and done with, but even that was beyond me. Gave myself two hands full of blisters, shot 126 and was thoroughly fed up. Blisters equalled no practice for me all week, and then this afternoon I go out and shoot a personal best of 90 round my home course, with some of the purest ball striking I've ever produced. No physical differences this week from last, but it was all just "working" today. And that, for me, is what this game is all about. Days like today where golf seems like the easiest thing in the world - what a great feeling. Stupid game... ;-)

I can relate...haha. I palyed some of the worst golf of my life a few weeks ago, and now the temps are getting a little bit more comfortable around here in Washington state, my scores are dropping and the game is getting fun again. Golf is a cruel mistress.

I have had this happen to me many times.  I was a 26 hc before I changed my swing(now I hit the ball like a 2 year old). And at that 26 hc last year, I had a few rounds at a fairly difficult course that I started out with 3 pars in a row.  Once that happens, you start to think "wow, 3 pars... I only need 15 more pars to shoot 72".  Once you start thinking like that, it's over.

Drugs are bad. M'kay.

I change my swing every time I don't shoot par for the course.

Many golfers think that a golfcourse consists of two rounds of 9 holes, not rare for a midcapper to play the first nine in 6 over and shoot 15 over at the second nine ....... I actually see this a lot !!!

I play in a weekly tournament with a group raging hc. 4 - 30, its is more like a social event, mostly I am coupled with some of the midcappers and some how I always think a few holes, sometimes even for 9 holes, wht don't these guys play from hc. 15-18 instead of from 24-30 ...... I even know a few that don't want to know what they shot on the first nine......... golf is a mental game, think a golfcourse to be 18 holes and don't make a new start after nine holes.

    • It's really hard to argue against the Tiger Woods 2000 swing.  I like Rory's swing. And, I've always liked Joaquin Niemann's swing. Although, if I tried to mimic Niemann's swing I'd probably end up in traction for 2 months. I was kinda bummed when he went to LIV cuz I almost never see it anymore.  At the other extreme, I can't look at Bryson when he plays. Even if it's very effective, it's coyote-ugly to watch.  I'd rather watch Charles Barkley than Bryson. ....
    • Thank you for that information,I would have loved to see him in person
    • I think he was always kind of like that - he hit it off the planet relatively frequently throughout his career. I saw him play a couple of times. One time at Walton Heath in the European Open. He was playing the 13th on the Old (dogleg right par 5) and his drive had gone through the fairway and found a patch of grass in the woods there to the left (the woods have now gone). He had an opening to play back to the fairway. Maybe 25 yards to reach the fairway and 65 yards to run through the other side. He was maybe 230 yards away from the green, but the trees made sure that was not a viable option (at least that's what I thought at the time). He pulled out a pretty long iron - probably a 3 and gave it a full blooded thrash. I watched this ball come out straight for about 40 yards and then it just turned hard left, but stayed in the air (still not sure how he did that). He started the ball at a point that must have been 100 yards right of the green and hooked it basically that whole 100 yards and the ball wound up on the front of the green.  Shotmaking he was pretty much peerless. Not sure his swing was ever technically solid. Flowing and fun to watch yes, but not one you'd want to copy.  As to the question, I have heard a few people suggest that Mickey Wright had the best swing ever. Frank Nobilo had a pretty sweet looking one. Bruce Lietzke's was pretty cool - he managed to maintain PGA Tour playing rights with basically little to no work on his game - got to be a lot said for that.
    • A lot of us on this forum are hyper competitive, we just know not to break things that don't belong to us! that is why I stated "a person with a poor attitude grows up with no consequences" it is not all entitlement.
    • Yea, it is a cult following. Especially with the YouTube golf personalities using them. They did great marketing in a space that not many other golf clubs are getting into yet. Especially for putters.  I tried them out at Golf Galaxy before; I can't stand them look of them.
