Currently I am playing an aldila nv 65 R which is too whippy for me and I need to change.  My swing speed back then (5years or so ago) was 95 to a hundred mph.  Now its well into the 100s which requries a stiff generally which i feel i do need. At the minute I am far too inconsistent with it because I am consicously trying to slow down but when I do hit it normally it balloons and gets no run or hooks, and when I slow down its a weak pathetic swing which produces insconsistent results.  I also feel im losing a lot of distance.

TBH I dont know what I really want but I do like the mid ball flight that my NV gives when hit properly. I dont have the need to work the ball either so a low spin shaft isnt really necessary.  I do however like lightweight so am thinking of going for a 55 series shaft to help increase swing speed for more distance.  What I was thinking of doing was getting the aldila NVS 55 in x stiff they are dirt cheap now.  This is a light weight shaft with more spin meaning it will be alot more forgiving but higher and the x stiff will hopefully stop it from going too high and not killing roll or do I just find an NV 55 or NV65 in stiff?

broombroom, I fully expect you have made your decision by now but what the heck. I use the Aldila NVS 55 on my woods and driver and it performs exceptionally well. Everytime I buy a new club, I automatically go to the NVS 55 beacuse I trust it and know it will perform for me.

BTW, let us know what you ended up doing? Has it worked for you?
