has anybody hit a Matrix Ozik, Accuflex, or Accra shaft in their woods??
I have a Mitsubishi Rayon Blueboard in my driver, and i love it, but the ozik shaft looks cool and i wonder what makes it so expensive (up to 1 grand on ebay). They make it sound like its more complicated to make than kevlar, but i cant see the benefits bein worth that much. same goes for the other two shafts too. Comments??

asianpsuation,

The Oizk Altus is a very different bend profile than the Blueboard. The Altus is tip soft mid firm and butt stiff. If you're paying more than $350 installed for one you're getting ripped off. The Altus is high launch and very low spin and has a very smooth feeling. The proprietary soft feel shaft is neat, but is not a very durable coating at all. Their proprietary Zylon and multi-material composition is why they are able to create such low spin shafts. The TP-7 / TP-7X line is around $800 installed and features side spin reduction properties which do help to reduce misses left and right. It works, but it won't cure wild hooks and slices. If you can afford it and get fit properly it will help increase your driving accuracy, but whether it is worth the hefty price tag is highly debated. Personally I think there are better shafts on the market for far less money. If you want something more comperable to the Blueboard from Matrix, I would look into the Code-6 series which is a tip stiff, but stiff and mid flexible shaft. This shaft does play a bit firm to flex, so you might want to go a flex down. Acculfex makes a wide range of shafts in different bend profiles to suit different golfers needs. I'm not sure which shaft you're curious about, but rest assured Accuflex makes top quality products. The Accra Tour series is a soft tipped shaft that retains a very stable feel thanks to its low torque. Although torque really doesn't mean much, the Tour series is great for aggressive swingers who a stable feeling shaft but still require a softer tip. Outstanding product, but again, a very different profile from the Diamana Blueboard.

thanks, i am looking into the accra line of shafts, can u reccomend which one (if any) is the most comperable to my diamana? I love the mitsubishi shaft in my r7, but it feels a little harsh sometimes, and i think id hit a slightly heavier shaft better (like 70 grams maybe).
-also are accra shafts most commonly found on tour? i've never seen any on the course, and almost all ebay clubs w/ accra's are tour issued/only

asianpsuation,

There are a couple of shafts I would consider. From Accra, the closest thing is the SC-75. But it's still softer in the tip than the blueboard and may get the ball up in the air a bit more than you would like. A shaft I'm currently testing and quickly falling in love with is the Graphite Designs Pershing. It should fit the bill perfectly and is available in a 75g model. It's tip stiff, butt stiff, mid flex, but is just a bit softer than the Blue Board overall, making it easier to load especially towards the end of the round. I highly suggest looking into it, and at $80 it's a real bargain.

thanks thats perfect, ive heard about the pershing and seen ads for it but ive never hit it. It sounds like it solves my problem perfectly. For about 10 holes or so i hit my driver great, but towards the finishing holes as i get tired the shaft starts to feel really stiff and harsh. Ill look into it

one more thing if you know
-whats the main difference between the diamana bluboard and redboard? i think the redboard is a softer club throught the shaft that creates a higher launch, but im not sure. thanks

asianpsuation,

The Redboard is stiffer in the midsection and significantly softer in the tip and butt than the Blueboard. The softer tip adds higher launch while the softer butt section makes the club easier to load consistently. A very good choice if you're interested in raising your ball flight.

    • Day 287 6-16 Full, fast swings with controlling low point. Did ok just wasnt feeling it tonight. Recorded swing, no ball.
    • I'm good with the bunkers, and the fairways are SUPER wide. Three yards should stop a ball that isn't landing in it from rolling into the hay.
    • I'm a little behind, but I just finished listening to the episode about practicing while on vacation.  I have two vacations coming up this month that I won't be bringing golf clubs with me on, and this was perfectly timed (I'm sure I am not the only one going on vacation in June).   Especially the part about stretching.  I keep putting off adding stretching, with golf in mind, to my daily routine.  I think I'm going to use these upcoming vacations, the first of which I'm flying off to on Thursday, as a way to get into this habit.   For anyone else interested, Fit For Golf (see sidebar) has fantastic stretching routines (some of which, I think, are on their free area).  I really should get back to doing their main exercises too.  I don't have any affiliation with them beyond "satisfied customer," in case that sounds like an ad. I may end up posting in the 5 minutes thread when I do golf stretches if it's my only practice that day... as if I don't already sound like a broken mp3 with my 10-15 minutes hitting indoors part. And back to the topic:  anyone not caught up on the podcast should consider catching up and listen to that episode, especially if you're going on a non-golf vacation this summer and want some practice ideas that aren't the at-home practice routine from LSW about long bunker shots (which I am sure we all do regularly).
    • Mostly pull cuts to slices. Some random pull draw/hooks pending of I hit the toe.
    • What's the rest of that story? Where was the ball going?
