New site member from Portland.  Greetings all!

Just returned from a Florida trip a week ago.  Played four courses in four days (a first for me!).  Took the red eye and landed in Palm Beach and went straight to Trump for round one.  Here's where we played:

Trump International (West Palm)

Polo Trace (Delray Beach)

North Palm Beach CC (Palm Beach)

Abacoa GC (Palm Beach)

They were all great spots.  My fav was probably North Palm (a Nicklaus course).  The greens were crazy fast.  On one putt a playing partner shot a twenty footer a good fifteen feet past the cup.  It stopped and rolled back to within a foot.  Very funny.

This will be my second summer in Portland after relocating from the east coast.  I have played many of the munis already.  Heron Lakes is my favorite.  I hope to get out to Pumpkin and The Reserve later this summer.

Welcome... check out Langdon Farms, too (if you haven't already), it's one of the best public courses in the area.

Welcome to the board!

I've been meaning to ask for a bit:  what's the golf season like in Oregon?  I hear the rain is often and light, and it's very possible to play through the occasional shower.  There's a very good chance I'll be spending some time there in the not too distant future.

Shindig: It depends where in OR you are.  The way I understand it (and I am still a relative new comer), when you get east of Mt Hood into Central OR it starts to get much drier and desert like.

I am in Portland and I can tell you that it rains a lot.  (But it is a dry rain!  Okay not really...)  I am sure people play through it...not really my thing though.

Welcome!  I actually just got home from Portland yesterday.  I was there for 5 days and played a really nice track called Broadmoor Golf Club right on NE COlumbia BLVD.  Luckily, it wasn't raining during my round but the course was soaked!  Other than that, a great track!

I also played Heron Lakes as well when I was in Portland last year.

All in all, a great state!  Enjoy your time on this forum.

Thanks for the info.  I won't be too far from the 5, so not east of Mt. Hood.  Regular rain will be a new experience for me, but I certainly welcome a greener climate than Los Angeles.
