I am a 2 handicap that has never been fitted for any clubs in my life.  I have no clue what my swing speed ad wanted to know if a custom driver could help me achieve better results.  I hit my irons a long way but my driver distance doesn't seem to be consistent with my iron distances.  My iron distance averages are as follows:

PW    - 135-140

9 iron - 150-155

8 iron - 160-165

7 iron - 175-180

6 iron - 190-195

5 iron - 205-210

I currently play the Adams CB2s with the stock KBS stiff shafts and I have a stock Adams 9.5 degree Speedline Fast 10 driver with a stiff Wasabi Adilla shaft.  I average about 260-270 off the tee (all carry because how wet it's been).   I seem to balloon the ball a little bit.  I have always used a stock driver shaft. Should I see distance gains with a custom driver shaft and does anyone have any recommendations????  Please help.  Thanks.

you should go to a driver fitting session ; go there with your current driver, you will hit it and will know your current launch stats (spin, launch angle, ball speed)

choose a head that you like, titleist or tm for example and then focus on hitting as many shafts as possible on the same head...

good luck

    • Day 6: lighter session today after a long day. Just some mirror work and slow swings to try to get my feels down.
    • @Philip Belgium,  If I haven't already, Welcome to TST.  Your injury sounds serious and I hope you fully recover.   Thanks for sharing your story.  ..... each day get 1-2% better.   (A ray of sunshine and a positive outlook)
    • Day 91 (1  Aug 25) - Pre-tournament practice round today…had some great up and downs for par saves.  Rain came in this evening so it will be a totally different playing course tomorrow.
    • Jesus, when he keeps saying scissoring moment, ugh that is a horrible sounding phrase. Just makes me cringe. It doesn't help my mind went to Mr. Garrison from South Park. 🤣 If you know you know.  I think for the most part, golf shaft companies have gotten this figured out. They ask questions like, what tempo do you swing at. The whole scissor terminology sounds like they want to stand out a bit.  Yea, golfers load the golf shaft differently, and different bend profiles can help out. I do think swing speed matters as well. You probably want a golf shaft with lower torque if you swing faster.
    • Played 9 holes, shot a 39.  Kind of got around. Everything between the trees, so in play. Short game was rusty. Got to get back on that. Greens were stupidly slow because they got a lot of rain yesterday and probably couldn't cut them down. Usually in the summer they are firm and pretty fast for how sloped they are. Got to work on face to path a bit.
