Does the fact that I neglected to date my scorecard despite entering my score electronically on the day reneder me disqualified from the competition?

My 29 points, although not stunning, could have put me aboout 12 places higher than the last place I was awarded!

WOW.. really?  DQ because of a date?  Isn't that a bit **** retentive of the officials.. It's rules like that, that need addressed.. I always thought a DQ was too server a penalty for mistakes like that.. even signing a bad card is overkill..

I don't know for sure, but the USGA rules do not seem to require anything but hole scores and signatures from the player and his marker. A quick read through the decisions on Rule 6-6 seems to suggest that deviations from the explicit requirements are not allowed, so I'm doubtful that the Committee is justified in adding such a requirement.  As long as you handed in a correct, signed card as soon as possible after the round, that's all that should matter.  You (and your marker) should be able to attest to the date on which that round was played.

Entering it in the computer is irrelevant under the USGA rules, it is only the scorecard that counts for anything.

Of course, (a) this is USGA rules so your local regs may differ (although I think the R&A; in the UK matches the USGA rule set) and (b) I don't have any direct experience.  I'm interested in rules, though, so I'll be watching to see if anyone knows authoritatively.
