I played there in March. The course was fine. For $35, the twilight rate is a steal.

When are you going? The FSGA website has some tournaments that are easy to sign up for, and you can play the best courses in NW FL for around $60.

If you're going to Tallahassee, Southwood is a fun track as well. Panama City has Camp Creek, which is the best public course in NW FL, though a little pricy. GolfNow has good deals, though for those courses.

Have fun, let me know if you need OT travel tips for the area!

Thanks for the Feedback.

We are actually going to Cape San Blas so thats definitely the closest course to us. We are planning on playing there like 3 times then going to play The Jack Nicklaus Course Bay Point Resort. For St. James we have a handful of bogo deals. More of a family trip and just sneaking away a few times to get a few rounds in. Thanks again. What did you like about the course>

I liked the condition of the fairways, and the bunkers were not overly difficult. I'm used to playing the munis in Tallahassee, where the fairways have hardpan sand, and the bunkers have overhangs.

Number 3 (I think) had a challenge as far a really narrow fairway with a tiny green, and lots of bunkers near the green. The course definitely rewards fairway play.

It's not my favorite course in the Panhandle, but considering the remote nature of the area, St James is not bad. Also, you will likely have much of the course to yourself, which is a big plus in my book.

There is a local beach just west of Carrabelle that is fun. Look for a dirt road about 2 miles west of town, if you want to hit the beach right after your round.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
