What is your best golf Moment ?

Mine had to be last year. I was playing excellent. All the shots were going my way and I had miraculous putts. I finished the front nine with 3 over par and had kept going. I was so nervous because my goal was to shoot under 80 and I didnt fold under my own pressure from myself and i kept going. I choked a little on the last hole but i still managed to shoot a 79. I was proud of myself for not blowing it.

Summer of 2000, my Dad died. He loved anything Scottish and especially the bagpipes. The last time we played golf together, and his last time, was about 3 weeks before he died. Our 18th is a par 3 that runs next to the parking lot and the clubhouse of the club. There was some kind of celtic ceremony/affair happening in the club house that day and as we got to the 18th green, bagpipers were warming up in the parking lot and were playing "Amazing Grace". We putted out to the strains of that echoing across the hole. Ironically, "Amazing Grace" was one of his favorite songs (he actually had videos of the history of the song and all different kinds of versions of the song).

Just an eerie surreal moment that I still consider the best golf event of my life.

Sharing my best round thus far with my brother Jamie. I had 10 pars no birdies and the rest bogey's and doubles. Shot 86, jamie shot 80. We had a great day. That will always be my best golf experience. Miss u bro.........

When I was in a junior tournament, actually three of them.

1) Par 3 160 yards ( I was 12) hit right on top of bunker in deep rough, hit it fat and ended up trickling in to the hole from about 15 yards out in front of a few people.

2) First tee of tournament, (I was 13) every kid had brand new titleist,callaway etc. I was still using my junior set with just a driver,5,7,9 putter that was way to small for me, well we were broke lol. I managed to outdrive everyone with my off-brand junior set that was to small for me, with my dad watching.

3)Same tournament, kids were making fun of me because of my clubs, 2nd shot of a par 4 take out my driver and and landed it on the green 5 feet from the hole, they didnt say a word for the rest of the 8 holes!

First birdie.
I was 14 or 15.
It was a par 3, 165 yards or so.
I think I used a 6 iron and dropped it four feet of the cup.
I couldn't believe it.
I'd only been playing for like 4 months or something.
I dropped the birdie putt and have never forgot it since.

Yeah. My first birdie was a big thing for me. 7-Iron into a 122 yard hole at a "pitch and putt" where you hit off of mats. So not a great story. And no one else was there, so I didn't have anything other than a pat on my own back. That was August 2006. Five months later, a friend of mine and I played that course again and each made birdies on that hole.

i've had a lot of great fun playingg golf, but i have to go back to my first round of golf on memorial day in 1967.

my older brother and i shared a starter set of "voit chargers"
we thought they were great at the time.

anyway, on the 5th hole, a par 3 144 yards over a pond
i hit a 3 wood to about 2 feet, and made a birdie 2

i couldn't believe it.

it is like winning the daily double the first time at the race track.

i was hooked!!!! 2 years later, i quit organized baseball, and played golf all summer long 36-54 holes a day, walking with my buddies.

40 years later, i still vividly remember that 5th hole of my life.

golf truely is a game for life, and truely a game of great friendships, and memories.

thank God we remember the good shots, long after the lousy ones we hit.

1st good shoot I ever hit - was the 3rd hole I had ever played. Driver to a par 3, hit the green..but 3 putted, that was 28 years ago

1st time I broke 80 - 4 years ago

Everytime I'm out on the course and can watch the sun rise over it. There is not a better place to be.

Everytime I'm out of the course with my son, who is just starting.

Last July I got my first hole in one, the best part was that my father was there with me, he usually has to work but he took the day off to come play. I think he was more excited than me because he got me started playing when I was little.

Mine is the first day I ever outdrove my dad (from the same tee). I'd played with him for years, soaking up knowledge from him, but being a grown man, he always outdrove me.

Then one day I teed up after him and both our jaws dropped as my ball pounced right past his on a par 5. Not only was it MY proudest moment, but it was his, too! He almost cried, I swear, and he bragged about it for months (years?)... I was 16 at the time.

Last April...A foursome met in Monterey @ Spanish Bay. Two of us from Florida, one from Pittsburgh, and another from San Jose. We drove from San Jose and the weather started as overcast and by the time we got to Spanish Bay it was pouring...

We waited about an hour and while we were waiting everyone was coming in drenched! There was a break in the rain and we took our chance to play (surprised they even let us out). The first hole was windy and had a slight sprinkle. The second hole God opened up the heavens and dropped rain sideways on us (Caddyshack anyone?). We travelled too far and waited to long to head back, so we finished the second hole (with standing water on the green) and we decided to wait at the 3rd tee for a break in the torrent.

About 20 minutes later, the rain let up to a sprinkle and we played on...A half hour later the sun came out and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! This lasted until the 15th hole and it started to get really windy and cold. The end of the round was classic, because we rolled up to the clubhouse and there was the bagpiper starting his song...Classic! Then as we were packing up the SUV, it started HAILING...man what a day!

We all played relatively poorly, but the experience of Spanish Bay was definately one to remember. We still talk about it when we get together...that's what it is all about. Sometimes golf is secondary to a bunch of friends hanging out and experiencing the journey to the 19th hole.

I haven't played a round yet, but in two trips to the range I can say I was extremely pleased about 2/3 of the way through my bag of balls when I hit my driver on the bounce to the back net of the range. It's 250 to there, so not a killer, but the shot was straight and felt awesome. Not sure I'll ever hit one like that again, based on the rest of my practice.

Hitting a hole-in-one in 1999 at a company scramble tournmament, and winning a new Lincoln Mercury Mountaineer.

165 yd Par 3 slight down hill. I hit 7 iron and watched it roll into the cup and immediately jumped into the Mountaineer parker on the tee box!
