First a little about myself:

24 y/o, 6'6" - 225lbs-ish, athletic, played basketball and baseball through high school. I just finished grad school and will finally have time (and an income) to get back into the game. I played when I was younger but have played 3 rounds in the last 6 years. I played for the first time last week and shot a 95. I could easily have been in the high-80's with any resemblance of touch around the greens (quite rusty obviously) I'm also playing with clubs I got when I was 12 years old (LOL)... My irons fit HORRIBLY so therefore I'm in the market for a new set. My divots with my mid-short irons are about 1-1.5" wide because only the toe is hitting the turf.

I was at Golf Galaxy today waiting for my putter to be gripped and I basically had free reign at the PING fitting cart. I've been looking at SGI irons so I was mostly looking at PING G15 today. They didnt have many left handed clubs, but they did have a 6i +1", silver dot (3.75 upright) with an AWT S steel shaft. It felt pretty good. This is what their golf simulator (whatever its called) showed"

6i swing speed: 95-99mph

ball speed: 125ish, the highest I saw was 129.

carry distance: 200-205ish

For further reference my driver distance with a ~6-7 year old John Daly Extreme 10* driver is around 285ish out on the course.

Does this seem accurate?

On to part 2. I hit the ball pretty damn high. The flight of my 6i was flying higher than the standard view of the golf simulator (out of view of the big screen), and it seemed pretty accurate to what I see at the range and on the course. Would an AWT X-stiff help this? are there any other GI/SGI clubs that maybe I could look into that would have a lower flight trajectory... I know its 90% swing mechanics.

I also swung a Mizuno JPX-800 6i with +1" S steel shaft, stock lie. I saw similar ball flight, and a few yards more carry.

I plan on going back some more to hit the G15 and JPX-800 again, and try any other LH clubs they have.
