I see these things and am actually quite intriqued. I don't think I would want one, but I am curious if anyone has them and how they helped or hurt there game. I may purchase one when they are no longer a fad and the price drops immensely.

A friend of mine had the 56* he bought from 2nd Swing for $20 and used it for a round or so before giving up on it. He owed me $20 so I took the club instead of the cash.

It took quite a bit of time on the range to get used to, but once dialed in it was straight as an arrow and it came close to replacing my standard 60* as my perfect 50-yard club. I was surprised that you could even open the face a bit. What I found was that you didn't really need to change your swing at all, or your ball position. You just had to get over the look and hit it like normal wedge.

But it did not stay in my bag, as I never could get totally used to the look. I also don't like playing a club that has a different look and feel to my existing wedges. Plus, I never really was a shanker (although I did skull a shot the other day :( ). Add to that how much I liked my other wedges as well as the fact that I had been using 50/54/58 degree wedges and there was really no need for me to keep it, even if it was only $20.

Still, they are interesting and I would urge anyone that is not a good wedge player to give it a try. I kind of wish I had it back so I could mess around some more. But maybe it is a good thing that I don't have it. I can get a bit obsessive trying and comparing different clubs. Just witness the nine 6-irons I have, although I have narrowed it down to seven!

Thanks for the input. I am actually a pretty damn good wedge player. As I said, they just struck my curiosity. I think I will just stay away completely.

Thank You,

John

I tried, unsuccessfully, to find an independent evaluation of wedges and (think I did) at http://www.golftestusa.com/wedges.html ; however, F2 wedges were not included in the test.

To the best of my recollection, the only product I've ever purchased that I saw on an "infomercial" is the SkyCaddie. And I didn't buy that until I ran across a guy at "my" home course who was using one. I played a round in his group and got a full briefing and "thumbs up" on the SkyCaddie before spending the big bucks for one (BTW, it's great, IMO). Until/unless something similar happens with F2, I'm simply not interested.

    • Day 7: got out my chipping net and worked on chipping in the living room for a solid 15 minutes. Worked on mostly low shots, but mixed in a couple of high shots as well.
    • Day 228 4-4 More hip/chest turn and wrist arching. Working on hinging wrist a bit later. Foam balls.
    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
    • Day 550 - 2026-04-04 Practiced in the sim at a club for awhile. Did a SW ladder and practiced for awhile with my 7I.
