I see these things and am actually quite intriqued. I don't think I would want one, but I am curious if anyone has them and how they helped or hurt there game. I may purchase one when they are no longer a fad and the price drops immensely.

A friend of mine had the 56* he bought from 2nd Swing for $20 and used it for a round or so before giving up on it. He owed me $20 so I took the club instead of the cash.

It took quite a bit of time on the range to get used to, but once dialed in it was straight as an arrow and it came close to replacing my standard 60* as my perfect 50-yard club. I was surprised that you could even open the face a bit. What I found was that you didn't really need to change your swing at all, or your ball position. You just had to get over the look and hit it like normal wedge.

But it did not stay in my bag, as I never could get totally used to the look. I also don't like playing a club that has a different look and feel to my existing wedges. Plus, I never really was a shanker (although I did skull a shot the other day :( ). Add to that how much I liked my other wedges as well as the fact that I had been using 50/54/58 degree wedges and there was really no need for me to keep it, even if it was only $20.

Still, they are interesting and I would urge anyone that is not a good wedge player to give it a try. I kind of wish I had it back so I could mess around some more. But maybe it is a good thing that I don't have it. I can get a bit obsessive trying and comparing different clubs. Just witness the nine 6-irons I have, although I have narrowed it down to seven!

Thanks for the input. I am actually a pretty damn good wedge player. As I said, they just struck my curiosity. I think I will just stay away completely.

Thank You,

John

I tried, unsuccessfully, to find an independent evaluation of wedges and (think I did) at http://www.golftestusa.com/wedges.html ; however, F2 wedges were not included in the test.

To the best of my recollection, the only product I've ever purchased that I saw on an "infomercial" is the SkyCaddie. And I didn't buy that until I ran across a guy at "my" home course who was using one. I played a round in his group and got a full briefing and "thumbs up" on the SkyCaddie before spending the big bucks for one (BTW, it's great, IMO). Until/unless something similar happens with F2, I'm simply not interested.

    • Day 287 6-16 Full, fast swings with controlling low point. Did ok just wasnt feeling it tonight. Recorded swing, no ball.
    • I'm good with the bunkers, and the fairways are SUPER wide. Three yards should stop a ball that isn't landing in it from rolling into the hay.
    • I'm a little behind, but I just finished listening to the episode about practicing while on vacation.  I have two vacations coming up this month that I won't be bringing golf clubs with me on, and this was perfectly timed (I'm sure I am not the only one going on vacation in June).   Especially the part about stretching.  I keep putting off adding stretching, with golf in mind, to my daily routine.  I think I'm going to use these upcoming vacations, the first of which I'm flying off to on Thursday, as a way to get into this habit.   For anyone else interested, Fit For Golf (see sidebar) has fantastic stretching routines (some of which, I think, are on their free area).  I really should get back to doing their main exercises too.  I don't have any affiliation with them beyond "satisfied customer," in case that sounds like an ad. I may end up posting in the 5 minutes thread when I do golf stretches if it's my only practice that day... as if I don't already sound like a broken mp3 with my 10-15 minutes hitting indoors part. And back to the topic:  anyone not caught up on the podcast should consider catching up and listen to that episode, especially if you're going on a non-golf vacation this summer and want some practice ideas that aren't the at-home practice routine from LSW about long bunker shots (which I am sure we all do regularly).
    • Mostly pull cuts to slices. Some random pull draw/hooks pending of I hit the toe.
    • What's the rest of that story? Where was the ball going?
