I have a chance to play TPC Jasna Polana and was wondering if anyone out there in the sand trap world had ever played there, what im' in for, etc....opinions/thoughts/experiences welcomed...

In my Titleist 2014 9.5" Staff bag:

Cobra Bio+ 9* Matrix White Tie X  - Taylormade SLDR 15* ATTAS 80X - Titleist 910H 19* ATTAS 100X - Taylormade '13 TP MC 4-PW PX 6.5 - Vokey TVD M 50* DG TI X100 - Vokey SM4 55 / Vokey SM5 60* DG TI S400 - Piretti Potenza II 365g

I played it several years ago, admittedly not well.  It is a beautiful facility, with the full complement of staff and amenities.  I recall it not being very long, but somewhat tight in places and somewhat unforgiving for wayward drives.  There are a lot of trees, most holes are pretty 'tucked' in their own area, so to speak; if you miss a fairway by a ton, you're not on another hole, you're deep in the trees.  I also recall a very varied layout, a lot of different lengths and shapes to the holes.  I don't have a strong recollection of the greens, which probably means they were very good, not lightning, but well kept (I would remember if they were bumpy or like glass, e.g.).

Nothing in the swing is done at the expense of balance.

from the tips it plays to 7,100 or so which is pretty stout in my book...from pictures it looks beautiful and challenging but it's only rated a slope of 139 which isn't too terribly tough considering. btw, what actually IS your handicap?

I'm an 8.  See my thread on Disperson Statistics to see what the previous label was getting into. ;-)

**Update** played TPC Jasna Polana yesterday for the first time with another fellow 25 year old by the name of Adam Kucharski and the marketing director at Jasna by the name of Peter Angerame...great people. Gary Player's design of the course is just wonderful, with no two holes looking anything alike. Greens were rolling at a 10.5 and smooth as could be, even at a noon tee time.  Top-notch all the way around. I met everyone from the pro's, assistant pro's, executive chef, public relations coordinator, etc. and every person was knowledgeable and a joy to talk to. The course is set on a nice piece of land that has the largest 2-bedroom mansion in the world that was once owned by the Johnson & Johnson estate. The course has no houses lining any of the fairways except for buildings that were a part of the estate that still have facilities for business meetings, gatherings and club sponsored events. All in all i'd have to say one of the top 10 courses i've ever played on.  When i get the chance i'll post the few pictures that i have of the course on here. Tremendous experience and if anyone would like to know more or want to get on sometime, please let me know.

I worked there for a year back around 2002, absolutely loved the facility. The mansion is phenomenal, the practice facility is great, it's got all the polished pieces of an uber high end club. My favorite part was the drive into the club, through the woods, gorgeous. I found the course itself to be perfectly manicured, but the design itself had some lulls. The first few holes were very dramatic, but there are a few par 4s up by the road that just zig zag and bog down the round a bit. Overall, the standout holes outweigh that lull and it's certainly a fun track.

Driver: Nike Covert Tour | 3W: Callaway X Hot Pro | Irons: Mizuno JPX-800 Pro X100 SS | Wedges: Vokey SM 54-08, Vokey Raw 60-12 | Putter (of the week): Arnold Palmer "The Original" 33"

    • Not really, no. I don't know the history, what you've worked on, what you've tried and moved away from… etc.
    • Day 9: 2/16/25 Putting through 50 mm gates from 11”. Swing pressure shift drills.
    • Definitely not a favorite… For some reason my wife and I started watching Cobra Kai. I know the original was pretty cheesy, but the inability of these people to get over shit that happened like 30 years ago is astounding. And these kids would be arrested, but they don’t even seem to get suspended from school. Would Danny not notice that Johnny’s son looks like Johnny? Etc.? Why would a completely different dojo that has the same name be “banned”? Oy. Not sure we’ll make it to season 2.
    • Day 139 - 2025-02-16 Weather led to a rescheduled GEARS lesson, so I used the time to work on my swing for 60 minutes or so. All downswing stuff. Some swings at 93 MPH. Most around 75-80.
    • A question I have is…this swing (fade, pull cut) does not  feel as good and easily repeatable as the draw swing we were working on previously.  I’m kinda in a weird spot where I do not know which direction will be the best to pursue. I like seeing a penetrating 5 yard draw but also like the thought of the fade not getting away from me as much.    Any thoughts on that?
