I am here with a question about my current situation, iron wise. I am 22 and have a 20 handicap and i'am wanting to improve on my game and was wondering I have callaway hawkeye vft irons with stiff graphite shafts and was looking at the titlest Ap1, would that be a good choice for me. I am wanting to correct my game and move forward in this sport any help would be great Thank you Justin

Keep your current irons, use the $800 you would use on the AP1's on lessons.

once you have a much better swing, then purchase a set of irons.  They will be vastly different than what you need now at your currentl level.

thats how I would move forward.

Agreed.  Just buying ap1's won't make you better at all.

if anything, go test a bunch of different models.  AP1 vs your current irons is kind of a side step into a similar type of club.  Not sure your age/swing speed, but have you considered trying steel shafts?

i am 22 and my swing speed is right around 94 and my current clubs were given to me so i really didnt have a choice of steel vs graphite but would steel be a better choice for me?

thanks

possibly, your young and as your game improves your swing speed should increase.  Graphite iron shafts have gotten better and some people like them.  But the vast majority of better players still use steel for their ability to produce consistent distance and dispersion, which is key with your irons.  94 is your driver mph or your five iron?  Try regular or possibly stiff steel in your irons.  You may be able to get some value out of your VFTs and pick up a good set of steel shafted irons on ebay.  Maybe like a set of Titleist 704cb or 755s from a few years back, I believe they are midsize type irons and should be avail in RH, just one example.
